Alfie the Amazing

Hi, my name is Claire - my partner Aidan and I adopted Alfie, a very clumsy, gangly, 6 month old Kelpie X from your amazing establishment on Feb 23 this year :) Alf has just turned 1 and now has a baby sister, Jersey who we got just a month ago - right before she was brought to you as well!

Alfie the Amazing

When we first brought Alf home he was very shy and confused. We had planned on him sleeping in the hall outside our bedroom but once he realised how much more comfy our bed was there was no geting him off - he slept in between us on our queen sized bed for at least 3 months before he just got too big!! Within weeks we started to see the most beautiful, laid back, chilled out, extremely dopey, incredibly affectionate and unbelievably sensitive nature in our amazing boy.

Once he realised the power of 'paw' we started to get bruises on our face from the force and speed at which he presented his paw upon being asked for it!

He has already, after just 6 short months, brought us more joy, happiness, laughter, love, and sheer contentment than we could have ever imagined or asked for. Under whatever circumstances he came to be unwanted I cannot begin to understand how anyone looked into this boy's eyes and did not fall completely and utterly in love with him.

Alfie the Amazing

Yes, we do have one patch of grass that he simply does NOT want to be there, and yes, the amount of money we've spent on apparently 'indestructible' toys could have fed a small army. . . and yes we have an air conditioning unit that can only be controlled by a remote (that no longer exists as Alfie quite liked the taste of it) - BUT in no crazy world would I ever change a thing about our funny little man :)

Thank you to everyone at the refuge home, without you god only knows where our boy and so many other beautiful dogs would have ended up x

  • Hi Claire,
Yes she makes my heart melt every day.
But there is some sadness in her eyes, I wish I knew what had happended to her.
    cheers Jill

  • Hi Claire and Aidan,
I adopted Bella in March 2009.
She is exactly like your Alfie except for the white patch.
She was 18 months when I adopted her, and my vet said she had had a litter maybe 6 months prior.
    I wonder????

    cheers Jill

  • It is so great to see comments about the dogs' bad habits for a change! Any dog owner knows that all dogs do these naughty things but an owner's anger lasts but a few minutes as your dog looks up, smiling, into your eyes!
Glad your new dog is bringing you such joy :)

  • Claire and Aiden I can tell that you are both beautiful souls and know how lucky Alfie and Jersey are. People like yourselves help make this world a better place. The love you have for this dog comes through in your words and you are truly lovely!! All the best

  • How I wish there were more loving people like you in this world.
Any human being who has never felt the love and joy a dog can give has missed out on so much.
