Butternut loves to dig

We adopted Pumpkin, now called Butternut, from the Dog Refuge in early July last year as a 4 month old puppy. I love reading the success stories on this page and thought I would share how well our (now big) girl is going.

Pumpkin

Butternut was only 13kg when we took her home and has spent the last 6 months growing and growing. Our little puppy is now 30kg and shows no signs of slowing down. Since the first day we brought her home, we have delighted in her lovely nature. Butternut loves everyone and everything. She is incredibly social and not a walk goes by without someone commenting on what a delightful and well behaved dog she is. This is quickly followed by everyone's favourite game of guess her breed (our best guest is a ridgeback cross something).

As well as enjoying her trips to the park, walks and doggy dates, Butternut's favourite past times include sleeping at our feet and playing with her (numerous) toys. She is particularly fond of ones which squeak and may love them too much at times, such that they head to an early demise!

That is not to say Butternut is without flaws...the dog who lived here before us liked to bury bones and Butternut has delighted in trying to dig them all up. She is also known to occasionally try and subdue any flowers that appear to be waving in the breeze too much by pulling them out of the ground. As she is getting older, these habits are lessening though and after staying with my parents and their dog over Christmas, we were a bit concerned that they loved her so much that they might've tried to dognap her.

We are very thankful to the Dog Refuge for saving Butternut from the pound. We love having her as part of our family. These are just some of the many (and many more) photos of butternut we have taken over the last 6 month.
