Cider blossoms after a bumpy start

We adopted Cider in Feb and I thought it was about time I gave all of you guys at the refuge and update on how lovely Cider is doing!

To be honest, it was a rough start. Cider had really bad anxiety and he escaped one day and got hit by a car...but we stuck it out. I am so glad we stuck it out because he is the most beautiful dog that I have ever met!!

His anxiety has calmed down, he is eating heaps (he has gone from 16/17kg when we got him, to a nice 19kg) and his tail is starting to wag a lot more!! It has taken him a long time, but he is finally starting to relax and be happy again!

He now has a young friend, Sadie, and she has had an amazing impact on him. He initially was very stiff with other dogs, but he is now very friendly and sociable whenever we take him to the beach or park. I cannot believe that transformation he has made!

My partner and I are very lucky to be able to call him our own! :)

  • I'm so glad to read this post, my sister Simone was fostering Cider for a short time and he is a beautiful dog! I'm glad he found such a great home.

  • So glad to hear that Cider found a good home - I fostered him when he first came to SPDR and found him to be absolutely gorgeous. Definitely had the potential there, just needed someone to give him the chance so BIG thank you xo

  • Hey freya, thanks so much for the update on cider. We may have only fostered him for a few nights but he certainly made himself comfortable in our home so I'm not surprised you guys fell in love with him. It's so wonderful to know things are going so well. Thanks so much for sticking out the rough patches, I'm sure you are rewarded with a lovely boy :)
