I've been reading some of the success stories on the Dogs' Refuge Home website, and wanted to share Daisy's story, as well as give you an update on how she's getting on.

Daisy

In September 2010, my husband and I decided to share our home with a dog.  Both of us were keen to re-house a dog that had fallen on hard times and deserved a second chance at a loving home. We already had two cats from the Cat Haven across the road, and were keen to support the wonderful work that the Dog Refuge does.  Your helpful staff advised us to bring in our fiestiest cat, to make sure the dog we ended up with would get along well with her.  So we brought one of our cats to the home.  Sadly the first dog we saw had a cat-killer instinct and wouldn't have been suitable for us.  On our third attempt at finding a suitable dog, the Trainer brought in Abygail.  She went up to the cat carrier, took one sniff and walked away.  We didn't think she'd realised there was a cat in the cage.  The Trainer wasn't sure either, so brought her back for a second look.  We got the same response. My husband and I couldn't believe our luck - would this lovely Staffy X be coming home with us?

Your Trainer and Assistant spent so much time with us, answering our questions and offering some wonderful advice. Abygail seemed like such a gorgeous dog, we couldn't understand how she had ended up abandoned and in need of a home. So Abygail came home with us on September 22nd 2010.  As we had had a previous pet called Abi, we decided to rename her Daisy.

Daisy has been part of our lives now for nearly two and a half years, and I still find myself wondering how anybody could have mistreated this gentle-natured, gorgeous girl.  We try and take her whenever and everywhere that we can, so find ourselves frequenting dog-friendly coffee shops and researching dog-friendly accommodation.  She is best friends with our cats and has enriched all of our lives.

I can't thank you enough for having rescued this beautiful girl and giving us the opportunity to share our lives with her. We simply couldn't imagine being without her now.

With the Greatest Thanks,

Simon, Zoe and Daisy
