Emmett the stealth dog

I wanted to let everyone at the refuge know that Emmett is doing really well.

Emmett - Adopt Me!

I've had him for around 4 months now and he has definitely made himself a part of the family (and furniture). He came to us quite skinny but since moving in has put on about 3 kilos and is looking really healthy. The patchy skin on his rear leg has all cleared and his left eye is reasonably clear.

We definitely had the initial 2 week honeymoon period where I was sitting there thinking how I could have got such a well behaved dog but that all came crashing down once he realised he could jump the fence into the neighbours back yard. Partly due to my laziness in dog-proofing the fence and the denial it was happening he jumped over most days for a couple of weeks just to say hello. Luckily we get on well with the neighbours and they enjoyed his company. It's all fixed now and he hasn't escaped since.

He has become a professional at stealing toast in the morning and sandwiches off my desk prior to going to work (still in glad wrap) but that's about the worst of it. He especially has my sister and cousin wrapped around his little finger where patting sessions can last longer than half an hour :)

Emmett - Adopt Me!

He sleeps inside and will usually take himself to bed around 9pm most nights. He'll wander into someones room during the night and jump on the end of the bed (now very quietly that he doesn't even wake you) just for a bit of company.

Thanks for all the work you guys do in getting great animals re-homed. It's hard to think what I would do without him now.

All the best

  • Emmett is such a chilled out dog - I think he's a little bit awesome. He calms me down even when I get a little crazy. Thanks Emmy! Your cousin, Ollie.

  • I do not know Emmett but it is gratifying to hear how the adoptees are going in their forever homes. Also that there are wonderful people who are giving so much to the dogs.
