Farewell to a cracking dog

My name is Sue Peacock and in 2001 we adopted Ned from the Shenton Park Dog Refuge.  He was already nearly two and nobody seemed to know much about his background.

Ned

Last week Ned died (he is in the commemorative book published a year or so ago for the 75th anniversary of the dog refuge).

I have written a story about his passing. Just felt I wanted to share it with you because if there was ever a success story you wanted to hear – Ned was it! You can read the story here.

We live in Victoria now, but are keen to come back and see you at Christmas time, when we might be ready to bring another dog home and into our lives – although none will ever be as good as Ned.

  • Hey just wanted to give you a brief heads up and let you know a few of the picutres aren't loading correctly. I'm not sure why but I think its a linking issue. I've tried it in two different web browsers and both show the same outcome .

  • Hi Sue
What a beautiful story thank you for sharing! I'm all teary eyed now. If you're looking for a very special four-legged friend, I was blessed to have little Oompah for a visit over the weekend with my three doggies. She is a Sharpei cross who has terrible mange but the most expressive face and biggest heart. All she wants is a family to love her - she is one of those once-in-a-lifetime dogs! I hope you find another furry friend to heal your heart x

  • Hi Janine, we don't know anything about Ned's background but would love to see a photo of your Rusty! You can direct message me on Facebook if you like.
Thanks for all your kind comments and condolences. We miss Ned every day.

  • Ned was such a lucky boy to have found such a loving family. Reading your story broke my heart as I can relate to your feelings of loss and emptiness.
    Thanks for loving Ned.

  • Do you know if Ned was originally brought In via stirling rangers or RSPCA Malaga??? We adopted our boy Rusty in sept 2001 from RSPCA Malaga, he was there with his brother, our boy looks very much Like Ned,, his age was estimated at 18 months -2 years, it's perhaps a long shot but we always wondered what happened to his brother! 😀
