Harry loves his outings to City Farmers

We were thinking of you all the other day with the heat and fire. It has prompted me to write a big thank you for all that you do and for making it possible to bring Harry into our life.

We visited the refuge several times over the week and around Christmas and then we met Hugh and adopted him (we've called him Harry). We want to thank you for your patience while we worked out which dog would be a best fit for our family and home. Harry is amazing! It's like a big ball of love has bounded into our home.

On the first day he wouldn't let us out of his sight. He would do little bits of exploring but wanted us to be in the same room and in sight the whole time. Second day he started to have a bit more confidence about exploring every corner of the house and yard for a few minutes each time but always returning. He has quickly worked out his favorite spots around the house and his ideal place to sleep is snuggled into John.

He loves toys! And has worked out how to tip his toy box over to get them all out at once. He has great house manners (which was a nice surprise) and he looks to us for direction. He is a bit of a leash monster but he responds so well to training so I don't think that will be a problem for long. He is very proud of his new tricks to 'stay', 'lye down' and 'leave it'! We all love the beach and while the first trip was terrible, it's now like his second home and he has made friends with the regulars there already. A walk to our local City Farmers to browse the doggy isle comes a close second to the beach as his favourite outing.

What your staff and volunteers do everyday caring for our four legged darlings and matching them to families is amazing. We want to tell you how much we appreciate what you do. For us, our match was made in heaven. We are all very happy.

With many thanks

Kate & John Tarasenko
