He may be a boxer, but not they type that the staff and volunteers at the Refuge are used to seeing around. But a love of man's best friend has seen Perth-born heavyweight boxer, Mark De Mori, welcomed as our new ambassador, particularly as we struggling with record numbers of dogs abandoned in the post-Christmas period.

Mark De Mori

Mark, who is backed by flamboyant American promoter Don King, has returned home to Perth after three months training in the US - and while in town he's throwing his weight behind our dogs.

"I've always been a huge dog lover, and when I was told that the Refuge was fighting to rescue record numbers of abandoned and neglected dogs I really wanted to help", says Mark.

"I have a rescue dog myself, and I know what wonderful companions they make for anyone willing to give them a second chance at life, that's why I'm appealing to the Perth community to contact the shelter if they can offer a stray dog a loving home."

We'd like to say a huge welcome to Mark and look forward to working with him.
