"My name is Kenneth and I was once a beautiful toy poodle puppy - but that was 10 years ago.

Kenneth

My hair is now matted and dirty and I am so terribly skinny that all of my bones are showing.  My teeth are rotten and it hurts when I try to eat and it makes me yelp - and so I have stopped eating. I am blind in one eye. I was born with a serious eye defect that was never treated and it is now infected and crusted over.  I have suffered with it through my entire life and I have been in dreadful pain.  I have had a terribly sad life and I cannot remember ever having a warm bed or a loving hug. With so many problems, I never thought that I would ever be rescued from the Pound and have a second chance at life".

This week, 'Kenneth' was rescued by the staff of the Dogs' Refuge Home from death-row at a suburban Pound.  The Dogs' Refuge Home in Shenton Park plays a leading role in rescuing and rehoming abandoned dogs in Perth and Kenneth's story highlights the work that is done behind the scenes by our staff and many volunteers.

Kenneth

Despite limited funds, we will ensure that Kenneth receives the very best veterinary care available and we will use all of the resources available to us to find a home for Kenneth so that he may live out his twilight years surrounded by love, security and warmth.

Kenneth is currently receiving urgent medical care and has been placed with a foster family to nurture him and to restore his trust in people. Despite his terrible life Kenneth's little tail has not stopped wagging since the moment that we saved him.

Please 'share' Kenneth's story with your friends and follow his journey with us on Facebook.

  • Stories like this break my heart, just cannot understand how humans can let other living beings be hurt and abused. Please help Kenneth and other unfortunate dogs get the love and compassion they deserve. Thanks
