Kindle's graduated from level 1 training

Just thought I would give you an update on Kindle, who was adopted in May 2012.

Kindle has just completed her 6 week Level One Training course, and we are looking at joining her up with the Northern Suburbs Dog Training Club in the near future. Her certificate is attached. Week one of training was hideous! Kindle has a little bit of an issue when she sees other dogs on leads – lots of barking, growling and lunging. She puts on such a show that when she finally reaches the other dog neither of them are really sure what to do with each other! So we went along to training where there was not only one, but six other dogs on leads!!! Who would have thought such a small dog could last an entire hour continuously lunging/barking and growling – she literally collapsed in the car on the way home and feel asleep! But now, after six weeks, she has improved dramatically, and we are learning how to desensitise her to seeing other dogs. She has also learned a few tricks along the way and is sitting, lying down and staying on command!

Kindle has definitely taken over the house – she is a very spoiled little dog and very loved by everyone who comes around. She is still a little unsure of strangers, but this, along with her issue with other dogs on leads, has improved dramatically and she is now greeting most strangers with licks before realising it is someone new and running behind my legs! It doesn’t take her long to warm up to everyone (especially if there are schmackos involved!) – and everyone falls instantly in love with her! She is completely toilet trained – although has decided that these cold mornings are just too chilly to go outside and has resorted to peeing in the hall – we are working on that one J. She loves to play fetch and tug-o-war, and despite her size, can hold her own in wrestling matches with my husband!

She has made a few doggy friends – including our families dogs, who she visits often and loves to play with.

Hope you enjoy the photos!

Thanks so much for your help in making Kindle part of our family!

  • So glad Kindle is doing well! She stayed with me for 2 weeks while in quarantine and after she was desexed, and I almost wonder if my dog taught her to be wary of other dogs on lead as he has the same problem :P

    Thankyou for the update :)
