Lilly continues to amaze

Just thought we would write in again to let you know Lilly (Stella) is doing well.  We have had her for three months now and she is such a sweet natured girl we cannot comprehend why someone would have ever given her up.

Lilly

She has gotten used to being inside the house and has made herself very comfortable on all the beds we have given her.  She still does not like the floorboards and will only walk on the carpeted areas but is pretty happy with that so we do not push her. Don’t be fooled, she still loves the outdoors and is very pleased with her doggy door so she can stroll in and out whenever she pleases.  She will generally choose outside over inside if someone is out with her.

You would not believe it but she loves the car.  She comes for rides all the time and thoroughly enjoys all the smells and new sites she experiences from hanging her head out the window.  She needs to work on her balance but that doesn’t faze her. She is more than happy to jump in when we open the door and does not need a lift from Dad anymore.

She has been going to training classes and as with everything she does, has come along in leaps and bounds.  Everyone at class loves her and is so taken with what a lovely girl she is.  She is the biggest one there but if given the opportunity would love run and play with all the small dogs too. We have lots of friends with dogs so she often has play dates and is always sad to see them go.

Lilly

She has figured out that all her food and good stuff is kept in the big silver machine called the refrigerator. She is there in an instant as soon as you open the door or if she hears the crunch of her dog biscuit bag.  She has put on a few kilos since she left the refuge so you cannot see her ribs anymore but is still nice and slim.

She has destroyed our backyard with all the holes she has dug and the grass has died with her running and playing on it with her tennis balls. It is a very small price to pay though for such a wonderful dog. She lets us cuddle her and smother her with kisses and is very good at all the doggy tricks.  She sometimes has a case of selective hearing but don’t we all!

All in all she continues to amaze us with how wonderful she is.  Her confidence has grown exponentially since she left and I can only imagine it will continue to flourish. She has learned to love us and we think she is very happy here with us.

We often check the refuge website and wish we could take all the doggies home. Keep up the great work guys.

  • Great to hear that Lilly has settled so well,
she looks very happy as a backseat driver!
With hot weather on the way, a good tip is
filling a plastic lidded icecream container
with ice blocks to take for Lilly in the car!

  • Lilly has found her perfect match! How lucky you all are! I hope other people out there are encouraged to give a dog a home after reading this. Well done to the Shenton Park Refuge Dogs' Home for their part in this happy story.

  • Wonderful to read the update on Lilly. I particularly loved the photo of Lilly relishing all the scents while in the car.

If only there were many more lovely people like you, then all the doggies could be taken to loving homes that they all deserve.
