We wanted to update you on the progress of Luna, given name from the refuge as we liked it. We adopted Luna on 28th May. She was only 8 weeks old and today is a big 13 weeks old.

Luna

We are so happy to have Luna in our family and after a short period of her feeling unsettled and off her food; she has now become a very happy pup and loves her food as well as Kong’s filled with biscuits and peanut butter, pigs ears, puppy bones and over roasted jerky chicken for treats when training. Luna is also a huge fan of puppy milk; which she laps up very quickly.

Recently Luna has been enrolled in puppy training at Billy’s Day Care and enjoyed her first visit meeting the other pups and making friends. This is a good way to get her out and about until she is fully vaccinated; which is on 13th July. Luna has visited the vets once already and enjoyed her visit and the treats they gave her making the whole experience pleasurable. It was also lovely to find out that she was developing well.

Luna’s training is coming on well and at home has learnt to sit, especially for her food and at the door to come in and out. She can also fetch and drop and at puppy school had to learn sit and down, fingers crossed this will all go well at puppy school, this week, as it does at home when we have to do 3 in a row. We are still working on the biting/nipping and Luna now has a lovely selection of toys, but will quite often still go for the furniture or hands. We are also crate training at night and she is doing really well and no accidents. We do get up at 4.5hr intervals to let her out to the toilet.

Luna

Luna has lots of energy and is very bouncy, then crashes fast asleep and snores for a couple of hours on her back; which is her favourite position. Luna is a friendly pup and is always happy to see people when they come round and likes a good belly rub.  She is always excited to see us and is very affectionate.

We love having her in our life and can’t wait to take her on walks and to the doggy beach.

Thanks to all the staff at Shenton Park for helping us chose our first pup and for all the work that you do at the shelter with all the dogs that you help find new caring homes for and in making sure the right dog goes to the right home to make all adoptions successful ones.

Regard, Claire, David and Luna
