It is not uncommon for some of our residents to start displaying signs of cabin fever once they have been at the Refuge for an extended period of time. Unfortunately, one of our beautiful residents, Macaroni is starting to display these signs and is getting very stressed in his kennel which he shows by high levels of stress by jumping and pacing. Macaroni is a 6 year old Boxer cross has been at the Refuge for over 6 months now.

Macaroni - Adopt Me!

However, Macaroni received a reprieve this week when one of our vollies, Dolores, who absolutely adores him had the week off work and took him home where she has seen him transform into a totally different dog in the home environment.

Dolores says "he is loved by my friends, family, neighbours and people we meet on our walks around the lake. He travels beautifully in the car - he has accompanied me to home opens, for a coffee, alfresco - where he comfortably sits, and curiously observes all the goings on around him.

"He is a gentle boy who loves his food, his walks and his sleep. He is a very social boy and loves to know that there is someone home with him. He is toilet trained and will wake you up with a big wag of his tail and big lick to ask to go out during the night - and happily goes back to sleep on his bed."

Macaroni is fairly agile and can jump high fences so needs to be in a secure property and preferably with part time workers or someone who is at home.

We are desperate to find Macaroni a home so he doesn't have to return to the Refuge, so if you think you can give him a loving home - just give the Refuge a call or pop in for a visit.

  • I have been a volunteer and the home and fell in love with Macaroni as did my 7yr old daughter. I wanted to have him but there were concerns about him around children. Tamika had met him face to face with Dolores when she was taking him home last yr. We would love to see him or even adopt him. Please will you contact me 0451477434 so we could visit. • Hi Daniela
Macaroni has now been adopted. Thank you for your interest and apologies for the confusion. If you forward us your email address to events@dogshome.org.au, someone from the Refuge will contact you.
    Thanks.

  • Hi guys,
What exactly is happening with Macaroni? We came in to possibly take Macaroni as our permanent pet, instead you wanted us to join up as foster parents to other dogs? Has Macaroni been taken as this seems very strange that you would refuse for him to go to a loving home when he was in the community paper

  • This is to Dolores. I was interested in fostering Mac and I met you with my daughter, and I am a volunteer also. I would love to see him. My daughter Tamika asks to see him. We really wanted him but the trainers were concerned about him around Tamika. Please call me 0451477434
