Chevy is a favorite of the vollies. He is an absolute smooch with such character. He is looking for an active home to call his own with people willing to put the time and effort into him and make him a part of the family. He loves exploring new places and will follow his nose everywhere! Once he has smelt all there is, he becomes very snuggly and loving. With a bit of commitment, Chevy will make a great addition to most homes. Time and patience training this boy is the key.

MY ENERGY LEVEL + REQUIREMENTS: Chevy needs owners who are home all day long or at least have a good family /friend network who could help as he has terrible separation anxiety. Chevy needs owners who will be able to commit to training him to help him to accept dogs and train him to be home alone so commitment or experience needed for him. Chevy's new home will also need secure 6 foot + fencing

MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Chevy is best suited to a home without any children.

MY SUITABILITY TO CATS & DOGS: Not suitable with other dogs.

DOB - AUG 2016 | Female | Staffy x

Hello, I'm Rhea and I'm the new girl on the block.
I'm a 2-year-old female Staffy X.
I'm a sweet marshmallow and I'm looking for nurturing and sweet hoomans to adopt me and give me a wonderful forever home.
My idea of a great day would be waking up on my very own cozy bed in the bedroom of my hoomans. The sun will be shining through the window and the birdies will be chirping outside. My hooman will naturally give me some loving pats and then we'll head off to the kitchen where we can enjoy breakfast together. I'm always really thankful for any time my hooman can spend with me...especially when we're going on walks together. I'll need a little bit of time to settle into my new routine, so I'm hoping whoever decides to adopt me can take some time off work to get me used to my new life, or maybe my new family will have someone who's home often.
Anyway, I'm a very affectionate pooch. I love to make my hoomans happy and I love to snuggle with them. I'm actually looking for a home with adults and I think I'd be okay with teenagers. I can be a little shy at times, so I'm not sure how younger kids would go with me.
I'd consider myself to be quite dog friendly and I'd even enjoy living with another dog as I feel like this would help me come out of my shell :)
Well, I think thats about it. If you think I'm the pawfect dog for you, please come down to the Refuge at 30 Lemnos St, Shenton Park.
Love always,
Rhea xo

DOB - MAY 2017 | Male | Staffy X

Saint is a well-mannered pooch who is awaiting his right humans to provide him with a loving home.
He loves to be in the company of his people and is most happy soaking up the sunshine and spending quality time with you.
Saint can be a bit unpredictable meeting new dogs, however he walks well and is happy to ignore them from a short distance.
Prefer experienced dog owners for this boy.
He will be a great, loyal companion for the right person/s once settled into his new home.

MY ENERGY LEVEL + REQUIREMENTS: Saint will require approx 1 hour of exercise daily plus mental enrichment at home such as kongs, chew toys and games with his family.

He may suit full time workers once settled into his new home however may need time with his people before being left for long periods.
Saint is a clever boy, relaxed and well mannered with people. He has been quite stressed IN kennel but once out in the yard was quite calm and pleasant.
He appears to know some basic obedience and will focus well for food.

MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Saint is best suited to teens in the home.

MY SUITABILITY TO CATS & DOGS: Saint may be able to make new dog friends but may be best off with females who are relaxed. Slow introductions are a must!
Saint is not recommended for dog parks, beaches as i would not trust him with certain dogs that may react to his body language badly.

DOB - AUG 2017 | Male | Staffy X

Meet Theo - he's a young (12 months old) male mixed breed who is looking for a second chance to start life anew.
This guy is super smart, but super stressed at being left alone and will not cope with fulltime workers - he will ideally love to be a companion dog at home with someone most of the time. He has been re-homed briefly but escaped when left out by himself.
Theo is going to need calm, patient owners who will allow him time to settle in. He will benefit from obedience training reinforced with positive methods only. He enjoys a nice long walk on lead and will need to get out and about every day to explore which he loves.
Theo is not confident around children but could be suited to a home with older teens or even adults only (or a single looking for a new BFF). If you have friends or family with young children visiting, he will not be the right doggo for you.
Theo is learning his doggy socialisation skills and will benefit from more controlled meets and greets with calm dogs. He's not ready for the dog park or to be let off lead, you will need to build your bond and Theo's confidence slowly. He's sure to be a loyal and loving dog if only he can find the right hoomans and join their pack.

DOB - OCT 2015  | Female | Staffy X

Orazio is a lively lad who is looking for a new home with active owners. He is keen to learn and has picked up new training skills quickly. He does jump up a lot at the moment so his new owners will need to reward him for keeping all 4 paws on the floor. As he is energetic he may be too much for smaller children but would suit an active household who can give him plenty of exercise. His new owners should have a secure yard with a high fence so he can stay safe when outside. Orazio is strong on the lead and can be excitable so would suit a home with older children or an adult only household.

MY ENERGY LEVEL + REQUIREMENTS: We would recommend that Orazio is not taken to any new places or meets any new people for at least the first 2 weeks whilst he is settling in, this is essential bonding time for him and his new owners. After this time, he can start to have on-lead walks in quite areas only but NO dog parks/dog beaches and NO off-lead time yet. Family members should be introduced slowly and in a calm manner so he learns to remain appropriate and polite.
Once settled in he would benefit from two 30-45 minute walks a day as well as enrichment and playtime so he can be mentally & physically stimulated.

MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Pending meet...Older children may be more suitable as Orazio is energetic and jumps up a lot so may be too much for smaller children.
The new owners will need to ensure that children are appropriate around Orazio especially whilst he is settling into the new home.

MY SUITABILITY TO CATS & DOGS: Slow introductions to other friendly dogs

DOB - APR 2015 | Male | Staffy X

Hello, hello!
I'm Lou, and it's a pawleasure to meet you.
I'm a 2-year-old male Staffy X...In fact, I'm almost 3! It will be my birthday in a few, I hope I can find a new home by then so I can celebrate getting a new life and having a birthday all at the same time.
I was returned to the Refuge, but it wasn't my fault. My owner had to have two major shoulder surgeries and it was very hard for me to get the exercise I needed after that.
I'm a strong boy and require about 45 mins of exercise each day. I love to go on walkies and sniff all of my surroundings. I'm a very easy-going dude and quite enjoy meeting other canines and fooling around with them.
I would describe myself as a S.N.A.D - Sensitive New Age Dog. I'm softly spoken, calm, intelligent and super doooooper affectionate.
I used to live with teenagers, and they were my absolute FAVOURITE. They can keep up with me and they were even able to walk me every now-and-then. I would really like some new teenagers...that would be so rad!!!
I also really like to be inside and would be really sad if I was an outside dog. I'd probably cry myself to sleep if I was banished to the backyard at night :-(.
So, I better be off for my WALKIES!
If you can spare some room in your house and your heart for a doggo like me, please come and see me at 30 Lemnos St, Shenton Park.
Love always, Lou

DOB - JUL 2015 | Male | American Staffy X

Ian is a lovely 3-legged boy, who bonds quite quickly. He is looking for that special someone who can devote their time on training him to be more confident and feel more secure. He will make the perfect companion for someone and give back ten fold! His new owners must be completely committed to help change his perceptions and help him feel more confident. No children as all the time and devotion is needed for him. I feel he would be a great project for someone who has the time.

ENERGY LEVEL + REQUIREMENTS: Ian needs owners who are home most of the time.He does have anxiety thus needs owners who understand this and are willing to work with this.

MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Ian is not suitable for children

MY SUITABILITY TO CATS & DOGS: Due to Ian's anxiety, he will need to be the only dog in the home.

DOB - MAY 2014 | Male | Kelpie X Staffy

 Hey Frenz,
I'm Bomber, an awesome 4.5-year-old male Kelpie X Staffy and I'm looking for a hooman!
I'm a really good boy....and super smart! Sometimes too smart for my own good! I love to chase a ball and play fetch...11/10 at fetch. I LOVE obedience classes. I used to go to classes in my old home and I was always such a good boy and really loved going.
I'm a bit choosy with other doggo's. Some I like, some I don't, so it's always impawtant to introduce me to dogs slowly and in a controlled environment.
I'm a Kelpie, so I need lots of exercise and mental stimulation to keep me happy and content :-).
I'm not a huge fan of younger kids. I like the older ones who aren't as full-on and can give me space when I need it. I'm also not keen on other small animals like cats, birds etc, so I'll need a pet-free home please.
Lastly, I'm super affectionate and can't wait to find a forever home so I can love my hoomans for the rest of my life <3
If you want to make my dreams come true, please come see me at 30 Lemnos St, Shenton Park.
Love, Bomber

DOB - MAY 2017 | Female | Staffy X

Hello peeps - it's me Lani (again). I'm almost 18 months old and I've been here a few long months now.
I'm a very loving and sweet girl. I love hoomans who love me back and give me belly rubs. In kennel I wag my tail like crazy when people visit me...I just get so happy to see hoomans! I'm not a fan of being left alone for longer periods of time, so we'll need to work on that and perhaps get me into puzzle games like Kongs and Snuffle Matts! But really I'd prefer to be hanging out with you ... a lot if possible.
I really love going on walkies and going for runs in the yard, so I'd love to find a hooman companion who loves to get out in the fresh air and get exercise...cause that's what I love too!
Okay so let me put all my cards on the table because I want to be honest with you. I was returned for not being good with other dogs - look, I'm not terrible with other dogs, but I am pretty choosy. I wish I knew how to interact with them, so therefore I'm looking for a hooman or hoomans who can help me improve in this area with pawfessional help. I don't really want to live with another pooch, but I'm open to learning how to have doggy friends in the future :-).
For example check out my walking buddy Lou. I do love Lou and I like my walks better when he comes too. Lou is looking for his forever home like me - maybe we could try together but I've only ever spent an hour at a time with good 'ole Lou so I'm not sure how I'd go all day with him - might be a shot for both our sakes, you know!
I've lived with kids before but the trainer thinks that might be a no. I do need to learn some manners at home but who knows I think teens or tweens might work. I'm open to trying if you are!
Well have a noice day! This place is open and me and Lou will be here, hoping someone will fall in love and take us home soon.

DOB - NOV 2016 | Male | American Staffy X

Todd is a handsome, well-mannered Staffy who is looking for his new family to love.
He is a very polite boy however initially a bit shy. Once he gets to know you he becomes extremely affectionate and just wants to keep you company.
Todd loves to play games - chasing the tennis ball, throwing the rope toy around to himself but tug of war seems to be his favourite.
He has good basic manners and is nice to walk on the lead.
Todd will need time to settle into his new home and should be exposed to new places & other dog slowly after he has bonded with his new people.

MY ENERGY LEVEL + REQUIREMENTS: Todd will require approx 1 hour of exercise daily. He loves to play with his toys - tennis & soccer balls, rope toys etc. Tug of war is his favourite.
He may suit full time workers once settled into his new home however he will need to be left in a very secure environment.
Todd can be a bit shy initially, once he gets to know you he is very affectionate, polite and knows good basic obedience with focus on food.

MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Todd may be ok with children 10+ in the home pending meet.
He would need his own space especially as he settles in and gets to know his new family.

MY SUITABILITY TO CATS & DOGS: He will need a few weeks to settle into his new home, walking in quiet areas away from other dogs before meeting new dogs. This will then need to be done slowly in a controlled manner.

DOB - MAR 2017 | Female | Staffy X

Skye is a gorgeous lady who hasn't had a proper stable home in her young life. She can be quite nervous about new situations so we are looking for a nice, calm family to take things slow with her.

This young lady would prefer if someone was home part-time to keep her company. There is potential for her to live with a male dog pending meet and older kids would be best for her.

Positive reward based training is something that will need to be ongoing for Skye to build confidence and positive associations. If you have the time and patience to put into Skye, please let us know!

MY ENERGY LEVEL + REQUIREMENTS: Skye is a sweet girl but takes a good deal of time to feel comfortable in new situations.

Skye will need a good amount of time to fully settle in with her new family. It is important she is not walked for the first couple weeks to allow the best possible chance to get to know her and form a bond. If she is rushed into too much too soon then it is likely she won't cope too well.

Skye need an owner that is home a lot, a least part time. She needs to be allowed indoors. May need a little work on toilet training as often nervous dogs do have accidents. She should never be punished for this as it will only send her backwards

MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Because Skye can be quite nervous at times, we feel she will be best with older teens.

MY SUITABILITY TO CATS & DOGS: Skye may be ok to meet other friendly dogs, but she can be choosy at times (depends on how the other dog reacts to her). She is best suited to being the only dog in the home.

DOB - JUN 2014 | Female | Staffy X Shar Pei

Shazza is an energetic and excitable girl who needs a home where she can be kept entertained and guided using lots of positive methods.
She loves the chance to run & play and this will need to be a part of her daily routine with her new people.
Shazza is a bit rough around the edges in terms of her focus when it comes to training but with the right motivation & consistency she is sure to learn fast.
She has a great personality and is sure to bond strongly whilst providing lots of love once settled in.

DOB - MAY 2014 | Male | Staffy X Heeler

Gerald is a happy boy in need of a structured home environment where he can bond with his humans.
He does not like other dogs and is lacking in basic obedience but is super clever and eager to learn.
Geralds perfect home will be one where he can get lots of exercise, playtime and keep his brain entertained through consistent mental enrichment games.
He has an affectionate side to him and once he learns some more basic manners will be a lovely, loyal little companion.
Gerald needs a specific home with people who can understand his needs and manage him effectively.

MY ENERGY LEVEL + REQUIREMENTS: Gerald will require approximately 1.5hrs of exercise daily. He will need mental enrichment and should be fed from kongs, be given toys to chew on / play with as well as training games with his new family.
He may suit full time workers once settled into his new home. A secure yard with high fencing is required. Gerald lacks basic training, he will need experienced owners who can work on his basic obedience in a controlled environment. Gerald would be the perfect candidate for rural or semi-rural living, in a nice quiet area.

MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Gerald is not suited to children of any ages. He can react around children and his new owners need to understand this and not take him to places where children would be, nor should they have any children visiting their home.

MY SUITABILITY TO CATS & DOGS: Gerald is quite choosy wit h his dog friends. He will need lots of time to settle into his new home before any attempt is made to socialize him. He must only meet calm, well-mannered dogs in a controlled environment - this should not be rushed.

DOB - MAR 2018 | Male | Staffy X

Hey there...
I'm Marx!
I'm just a wee-pup at only 7-months old and I'm a male Staffy X.
I was adopted as a puppy from the Refuge, but sadly I am back as I'm a little bit too excitable for my previous family.
I do get excited about life...and I'm sorry if that upsets you :( I'm not too bad...nothing that a bit of training can't fix.
I'm good with other friendly dogs and would even benefit from being rehomed with a slightly older pooch who can show me the ropes of life.
I really love family time with hoomans and love being inside, a part of the family. I'm hoping to find a home where my hoomans will be able to be home with me part-time, so that I can get lots of attention and pats....I love cuddles!
I'm fine with kids, but I'm thinking the bigger ones are better because I can get a little jumpy when I'm excited.
One last thing, I'd love to go to group obedience classes. I'm a pretty good boy, but I feel like these classes will help me control my excitement, learn lots of new things and I'll get to meet other pooches!
If I sound like the dog for you, please come see me at 30 Lemnos St, Shenton Park or call 9381 8166.
Paws Truly,

DOB - DEC 2015 | Female | American Staffy X

Hey there,
I'm Aria!
I'm 2-years-old and I'm a female American Staffy X.
I absolutely love the company of humans and will be forever grateful for a home where there is someone home with me as much as possible. I just want to spend my days lazing around with someone special...
I'm very loving and really can't wait to find the right home for me. It's been a pretty tough year for me, but I'm here and ready to accept change and embrace my new life...hopefully very soon!
I love toys to chew! It's my fave thing. I really hope my new humans will get me lots and lots of toys. I like the ones with treats in them, where I have to use my brain to get it out.
To be honest, I'm not great with other dogs, but the trainers said that with professional help, I may be able to gain some confidence around other dogs in the future, but this must be done slowly and at my own pace.
I'd like to find a home where I have a consistent routine, this makes me feel secure and safe. I love to wake up and know how my day is going to roll.
I also don't really want to be homed with kids, I need my humans to put their time and effort into me, please.
I hope someone can give me a home soon.
If you'd like to know more, please call my friends at the Refuge on 9381 8166.
Love, Aria

DOB - JUN 2013 | Female | Kelpie X Staffy

Hello there world,
I'm Olivia, but you can call me Livvy for short.
I'm new at the Refuge...well, new to you guys and gals anyway.
I'm a 5-year-old female Kelpie X Staffy and I have been in foster care going through rehabilitation.
It all started in my previous life...I've had a lot of trauma so I can't remember absolutely everything, but the Vet says it is highly likely that I was hit by a car and left without any medical care. I was in a lot of pain because my hips were twisted and without the medical care I desperately needed, I suffered all alone :(. I don't know how, but through some sort of unexpected miracle I ended up at the pound and the pound then contact the Dogs' Refuge Home to see if they could help...and they did!
It's been a few months now and thanks to everyone who has helped me...especially my foster carers, I'm now doing better day-by-day. I can still walk and run and play, but I'm a little bit incontinent because of the trauma to the back end of my little body. My foster carers are so patient with me and completely understand that I will have little accidents here-and-there. I'm now on medication to help with the incontinence so things are hopefully going to start looking up!
Anyway, I'm looking for a special human or humans who can take me under their wing and show me how wonderful a dogs' life can be with the right humans in it. I'm well-behaved and very sweet...and even though I've got this medical condition, I certainly don't let it stop me from being the happy-go-lucky little lady that everyone in my foster home adores so much.
I LOVE sun baking and tennis balls...they're my two favourite things. I'm not allowed to have a lot of exercise with my condition, so my foster Ma' always plays with the tennis balls with me and we go on short little walks each day...just so I can get out of the house and smell the roses.
Speaking of house...I actually don't mind spending time outdoors, so I wouldn't mind if you had to go to work and needed to leave me outside, but I do want to spend time with my humans indoors too.
Because of everything that has been going on in my life, I haven't had a lot of time to socialise myself with other dogs - my foster Ma' says that I get way too excited when I see other dogs and she's worried it could turn sour if another dog finds me too, I guess I could use a bit of help in that department.
I'm not sure about cats - If they bolt across the road when I'm out on my walk, I'll pull to try and chase them, but if they're just chillaxin' on a fence, I'll just strut on by and ignore them.
Oh, and I can be a little cautious of meeting new people, so I'm not sure I'd want to live with kids at this stage. I'm usually ok if the new visitors give me space and bring me yummy treats :-)
Ok, so if you think you can give a very special pooch like me a second chance, please call the Refuge on 9381 8166.
Paws faithfully,

DOB - JUL 2015 | Female | Staffy X

My name is Indy and I'm a 3-year-old female Staffy X.
I just got here not too long ago from Geraldton. It was a BIIIIG trip, but they tell me that I have more of a chance of finding a home in the big city.
Hooly dooly, there's a lot to take in here! I want to see all of Perth, but I'm stuck in kennel at the moment until I can find a comPAWtible hooman to love me forever.
There's talk around the Refuge of all these beautiful places around Perth that none of us doggo's have really seen before because we're all homeless. I don't know what a beach is but from what everyone says, it sounds amazing!
Anyway, as I said...I'm looking for a home and a hooman. I'm VERY affectionate. I LOVE cuddles and being close to hoomans. If you sits on the couch, I sits on the couch. If you walk to the kitchen, I walk to the kitchen, If you go to the toilet, I follow you to the toilet and awkwardly stare at you while you do your business. I just love being around you!
I would absolutely love having someone around with me as much as a household where at least one person is home more often than not would be grand!
I don't think I've every really had any formal 'manners' classes, but the Refuge says I'm actually just a naturally polite and smart lady, so I've already picked up some training, but would love to learn more with my new owners - I think it will help us really bond.
So, I met a couple of dogs here at the Refuge and I was super polite with them and eager to say HIIIIII!. One of the doggo's wasn't really keen on me, so I just backed off a bit and gave him a bit of space. I'm keen to learn more about other dogs, so I hope I can find a hooman who can guide me and make sure that my meet and greets are always in controlled environments...please don't just throw me off the deep end (so to speak).
I haven't had much experience with children. I've really only been around adults, so I'm not too sure how I would feel about living with kids at this stage. I may be ok. The best thing to do is to come in and meet me and we can see if we hit it off because I am a very loving girl :)
Ok, well that's about it!
I'm off for my morning walkies with the volunteers.
If you'd like to meet me, just come to 30 Lemnos St, Shenton Park.
Love always,
Indy xo

Marshall is a handsome Kelpie who has made the journey down from Broome in search of a loving home. He is a active boy and will require active people who can put the time into training him.
Marshall has a few behaviours that need some work which appears to be due to the possible lonely lifestyle he had previously. He is super smart and with the right motivation will learn new things quickly. Marshall would make an ideal jogging companion or for those who enjoy time at the beach.
In time he will learn, form a strong bond and make a wonderful, active companion.

MY ENERGY LEVEL + REQUIREMENTS: Marshall will require approximately 1.5 hrs of exercise daily. He should be fed from kongs, be given lots of toys to chew on & play with.

Marshall must attend group obedience classes to assist with these behaviours as well as improving his basic obedience skills & manners.

Duke is a handsome and loving boy who wants a home with an active lifestyle where he can play with his family. His ideal home will be one where he can settle in and be with his people most of the time as he doesn't like to be left alone for long periods. Duke has some good manners already, is toilet trained and will benefit from further obedience classes where he can put his smarts to good use. MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Duke may suit dog-savvy kids who are gentle and approach home politely when initially meeting.

MY SUITABILITY TO CATS & DOGS: Duke appears to be good with other friendly dog and would benefit from more socialization.

DOB - JAN 2016 | Male | Staffy X Kelpie

Testing one, two- is this thing on!?
Hey, I'm Rocky.
I'm a Staffy X Kelpie with little corgi-like legs and I'm 2-and-a-half-years-old.
I'm a very clever boy, but I need some people who are going to help me build up my confidence by using my brain. Training and mental enrichment are going to be key to my growth and development.
I love my toys. I just love being in the yard frolicking around with a ball or a rope toy. I can't wait to find hoomans who I can play with. Don't worry, I'll teach you how to play with my's easy!
When I was just a wee little whipper-snapper, I used to be okay with other dogs, but it seems that this shelter life isn't really helping me gain much confidence around other pooches. I think I'll just need a bit of time to calm down and get used to my new environment before I'm introduced to other canine friends. I should also mention that it's going to be best to get a trainer to help re-introduce me to pooches.
I'm not really wanting a home with children, although older teens may be right up my alley. The older teens can actually help with my training and it's a great way for us to bond and become besties. Little kids are just too much for me to deal with, unfortunately.
Well, I'm SO ready to be someones life-long companion, so please don't delay. Come and see me at 30 Lemnos St, Shenton Park.
Love chuuu!

Charlie Brown

DOB - SEP 2008 | Male | Staffy X

MY ENERGY LEVEL + REQUIREMENTS: Charlie may suit part time workers as he is used to having human companionship in his previous home so it is highly likely that he will stress in his new home if he is just left alone. Charlie will require approx 2 x 30 minute walks daily to help shed some kilos. He will need someone who can do training with him as he does have basic manners but can definitely learn more.

MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Charlie Brown is best suited to older dog-savvy kids

MY SUITABILITY TO CATS & DOGS: Charlie appears to be choosy with his doggie friends. He is best suited to a home where he will be only dog and should not be forced to interact with other dogs.

DOB - JAN 2017 | Female | Staffy X

Nadie is a lively little pup who was flown down from Broome at the opportunity for a better life.
She has not received training before and requires committed owners who can put the time into her.
Nadie is quite clever and very playful. She will learn quickly given the right approach and will need lots of activity and entertainment to help her stay out of trouble.
Nadie just needs the right people who can guide her with consistent positive training.
She is sure to learn her manners in time and become a much loved family member.

Nadie is a little project dog. She needs new owners who will help her to be the best she can be. This will involve lots of training and management. Quiet people would benefit her and people who understand that she needs quite intensive training for the first part of her life.
Nadie will require approximately 2 x 30 minute walks until full grown, this can then be changed to 1 hour of exercise daily.
She will need part time / stay at home workers as she settles in, attends training and learns manners / house rules.

Nadie is a young girl and requires lots of new positive experiences with the world such as new people, other dogs, new places etc.
Mental enrichment will greatly benefit her, feeding from kongs, chew toys & training games should all be a part of her routine.

SUITABILITY TO DOGS AND CATS: Nadie lacks social skills with other dogs. She can be vocal when meeting and is unsure how to behave for the most part.
She requires owners who can take their time whilst gradually exposing her to new friendly dogs so she can learn positively in a controlled environment.

DOB - SEP 2008 | Female | Staffy X

Hallo! I'm Amber. This is all very new to me and I feel a bit uncomfortable with this Bookface thing, the camera thing and the refuge thing! It's all a bit much for a lady approaching her mid-life!
At 7 years I didn't really expect to be homeless, but so many things changed in my household. Over the last few years it's been a bit stressful, well for me at least. I've been house bound and barely had any exercise. Well, when I say house bound I mean the backyard, actually. I've been away from my hoomans. I think it's because I was so boisterous around the new baby, who is now toddling, but I was just so excited to see everyone.
So it's time for second chances and I want to make mine count! Please come and adopt me only if you have time for me, will take me for a nice walk most days, will let me be inside with you and will spoil me, just a little bit would be lovely.
I've had some experience with other dogs, big and small. I'm okay when they're okay. I'm not sure sometimes whether to back off, bark or play, but it's been awhile since I went to the park so you'll have to cut me some slack until we work it all out.
I really, truly love people. I'll be fine with kiddos, maybe a bit bigger than toddlers until I can contain my excitement. I've never seen a cat that anyone can remember, just sayin' cos I've got no idea what I'll do!
If I do say so myself, I am a real sweetie. I can't wait to find out who will come and want me, I hope they are nice like me and will give me lots of love and affection (which I plan to give them too)!
Oh dear, please don't let the weather put you off. We're open and there's so many dogs like me hoping to get out of our kennels and into our new homes.
Kisses and slobbers
Amber xoxoxo

DOB - JUL 2015 | Male | Kelpie X Staffy

Heya hooman friends,
I'm Harlem and I'm a 2-year-old male Kelpie X Staffy, ready to find my forever home.
I'm currently in foster care and I'm living with another doggy friend named Lilo. Lilo is a Rottweiler and we've become close friends, but Lilo already has a forever home with my foster carers, so I need to find one for myself too.
I'm quite shy when I first meet people, but as soon as I feel comfortable I'll be right up in your grill wanting cuddles and pats. You'll find me mostly nudging you to prompt you to give me loves!
Since being in foster care I have discovered that couches are the best thing man has ever created. I loves them so much! I call them the 'dream machines' because they're so comfortable, I drift off into a deep sleep and dream about parks with endless dog toys and water fountains filled with treats instead of water. Speaking of water, my foster carers take me to the beach every now and then, but I'm kinda scared of the water! It sucks you in and I don't really like that!
I've been around cats and I'm always polite around them. I don't really understand them, but we respect each others space. I actually find them pretty funny...they make the strangest noises and always try to impawsonate the hoomans cell phones by vibrating...I think they call it 'purring'.
My foster hoomans have given me a SNUFFLE MAT and it is the best thing ever (after couches of course!). If you don't know what a snuffle mat is, you need to get onto it ASAP. You hide your foods in it and then it's like some magical puzzle you have to solve to get the treats out. It keeps me calm and happy when my foster hoomans have to go out.
Speaking of hoomans going out, I don't really like being home by myself for a long time :-(. I have sepawration anxiety and sometimes try to get out if you leave me outside - so being inside is the best option for me if you do have to go out for a little bit...actually one thing that has helped with this is my friend Lilo, so I hope I can live with another doggy friend so I have some company.
I'm quite a social boy, but some dogs are just plain rude and I don't like that! I will tell them off if they get up in my face and don't show me their manners. I have no tolerance for rude doggo's. My foster hoomans have taught me to be polite and gentle and I expect other dogs to be the same, please!
I'm not sure if a home with kids would be great for I said, I'm kinda shy initially and usually what makes me feel at ease is the calmness of adults, but I know kids have a lot more energy and can be quite loud and unpredictable at times, so I'm not sure I want to live with them.
Anyway, if I sound like I'd be the pawfect fit for your lifestyle, please call my buddies at the Refuge on 9381 8166.
Peace and Love,
Harlem x

DOB - JUL 2015 | Male | Staffy x

I'm Sully, only the most handsome boyyyy on the block, ya know.
I'm a 3-year-old male Staffy X.
Yeah, yeah...I know what you're thinking...another Staffy. Well, I'll have you know, us Staffy's are as loyal as they come, and don't even get me started on our pawsonalities. For instance, my pawsonality is fruity...I'm just a bag of fun! There will never be a dull moment with me around, that's for paw!
A part from doing my regular doggo things in life, I'm an avid fetch player. I've been playing since I was a wee-whipper-snapper. I take my games of fetch pretty seriously...I'm like the Tiger Woods of the fetch world, only I definitely don't have an issue with monogamy *drum noise* fact, that's why I'm here...I want to find a pawtner for life <3
So yeah, as you can tell, I'm a bit of a comedian! Underneath my silly side, I'm a complete marshmallow. I'm the kinda pooch to bring you a soggy tennis ball as a gift (my most prized pawsession), lick your face clean in the morning to save you time on your morning regime and to give you cuddles in this cold winter weather.
Although my favourite things in life are my hoominz and my tennis balls, I'm open to meeting new doggo's. I'm polite in public places with other doggo's, but you do need to monitor my toys because I'm not overly sure I would want to share my tennis balls with other pooches.
So...the age old question; do I want kids? The short and skinny, I do not want kids. It's not that I don't like them, but y'know, I want a care-free lifestyle, man. I don't do long-term commitment (only with the adult hoominz). Also, I'll probably be way tooo 'extra' for young kids anyways.
Ok, enough with the chit-chat, let's meet!
Alls you need to do is come to 30 Lemnos St, Shenton Park, between the hours of 11am - 3pm any day of the week!

DOB - AUG 2017 | Female | American Staffy X Bull Terrier

Heyyy, I'm Molly.
I'm 11-months-old and I'm a female American Staffy X Bull Terrier.
So, I'm only a young kid and I'm looking for a family to take me in and nurture me. Teach me all the hooman ways of living, give me love and help me become the best I can be.
I'm a very happy little lady. I love hooman affection and will wag my tail like crazy when hoomans approach me.
I'm also pretty dog social and in my past home I used to go to an enclosed dog park where I would let my fur (hair) down and run around and be free with the other doggo's.
I used to live with another dog and whilst we were besties, our relationship kinda turned a little sour. I didn't like him being around my food and vice verser. We decided to go our separate ways. It was a tough breakup and I'm still learning to live without him, but I'm looking forward to finding a home where I will be the centre of attention this time :-).
Are you prepared to help me with training? I still have quite a lot to learn, so I need people who are going to be 100% committed to me and will help me learn and grow in my new home.
I'm really excited about long as they're gentle with me! I love their vibe and their spritely natures...they're kinda like me!
Sooooooooo....I hope someone can give me a home soon.
Come and say Hi over the weekend - 30 Lemnos St, Shenton Park.
Love from your friend, Molly xo

DOB -MAY 2015| Female | Staffy X Kelpie

Hello everyone!
I'm the one and only Pearl, and I'm a 3-year-old female medium mixed breed doggo.
It's a pawleasure to meet you this evening.

Ok, to tell you about mwah! I'm a very pretty lady (if you didn't already notice hehehe). I can be quite shy when I first meet people. Sometimes I get a little scared, but if you just go slowly with me and give me a second to get to know you, I'm such a loving lady - you will be so surprised!

I'm quite an active girl. I really hope my new humans will have time to exercise me each day, otherwise, I could go a little batty without it.

I know you'll want to know what I'm like with other dogs and I can't really answer that honestly because I've been so stressed here - my little legs tremble a lot with all the barking and chaos of the Refuge. I'm not sure If I'll ever want to make doggy friends - but we can definitely try in a controlled environment. At the end of the day, I much prefer my humans' company over other canines.

I don't think I'm the sort of dog for young kids. I need to go through a bit of training and I'm still quite jumpy and haven't learnt how to harness my energy, so for this reason, I think adults are best for me at this stage in my life.

If you'd like to give me a home, come and see me tomorrow! No time like the present, hey!? Just come to 30 Lemnos St, Shenton Park between 11am - 3pm.

See you tomorrow!

Love, Pearl xo

DOB - MAY 2007 | Female | Staffy X

Hello, I`m Bella. I have been lucky enough to be on foster since I came to the refuge I have overheard my foster carers tell people that I am amazing, which I already knew! So I will tell you a bit about me, I love walks and socialising with new humans as you guys give great cuddles. I like to chase my ball and I will give it back when you ask because I have trained you to throw it for me again. I would be fine with people that have to go to work during the day once I am given a nice yard so I can enjoy the sun and I also have to be inside with you guys when you are home. Other than that like they said i`m great!

MY ENERGY LEVEL + REQUIREMENTS: Bella will require approx a 30 minute walk daily plus mental stimulation. She is going to manage fine with full time workers as long as she gets to spend lots of time indoors as this is where she is most comfortable.

MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Bella may be okay with gentle children. Pending a meet

MY SUITABILITY TO CATS & DOGS: Bella can be a little choosy with other dogs in the same house but has met fine when on walks.

DOB - JUN 2014 | Male | American Staffy X

Poor Thor! 😥 He's a four year old Am Staffy Cross who has arrived in very bad shape. He's under weight and has some serious skin issues that will potentially require lifetime management with a vet-grade food and medicated baths.
We could talk about the ideal family for Thor but suffice to say, Thor is looking for owners who:
a) want a dog!
b) want a dog to be part of the family and not a garden ornament!
c) will feed him (is it too much to expect?)!
d) will nurture him - he's a very smoochy and loving boy who just craves attention and wants to be loved.
Thor is not coping well with kennel life and with the behaviour we have observed, we know he is not going to manage or thrive with fulltime workers. He's done his time alone and is going to need regular company and lots of reassurance.
Thor seems to be appropriate with other dogs and has tested well. Ideally he will need controlled meets with calm dogs and for his new owners to build a bond before introducing him to new situations.
Thor might do well in a home with adults-only, but older teens would also be worth a try. He is gentle taking treats and responds well to basic obedience. More positive training to build his confidence will go a long way to helping settle this boy into a happy new life.
Our clinic team will work with new owners to provide a plan for increasing his weight and overall condition, but it will be a commitment.

DOB - JUN 2013 | Male | Staffy X

Ochi is a big, lovable Staffy who is in need of a home where he can be given lots of Tlc and playtime.
He LOVES to play this boy, his favourite game is tug of war and he can have quite the exuberant play style.
Ochi also loves company, so would be best in a home with lots of companionship and time to keep him occupied.
He has been well behaved with us at the refuge and received positive feedback from his short term foster carer.
Ochi is sure to form a very strong bond with his new family.

MY ENERGY LEVEL + REQUIREMENTS: Ochi will need around 1 hour of exercise daily this includes playtime such as tug of wear which he loves.
He is best suited to part time / stay at home workers - settles when left over time but can be quite stressed initially as seen in kennel so flexible work hours required.
Ochi has received some positive feedback from his foster carers - playful, friendly and settles well with people around.

MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Ochi is friendly but can play rough with his toys. Teenagers may be suitable pending meet.

MY SUITABILITY TO CATS & DOGS: Ochi has been polite when meeting other dogs at the Refuge. Slow meets are still recommended as new owners get to know him and learn his reactions.

DOB - JUL 2016 | Male | American Staffy

Meet two year old Gyro. What a fun loving, glass half full kinda guy! He won't stop smiling when he has your attention and is a happy staffy boy to take out and about!
Despite love his Dogs' Home hoomans sooo much, Gyro is a eagerly awaiting a new home of his own. He will do well with an active lifestyle where he can spend lots of time with his people (and is not likely to cope well being left fulltime - at least to start).
Daily activity is going to be important for this boy - training, playtime, exercise and company should be priority as he settles into his new home environment.
Gyro has made a doggy friend and he does enjoy walking alongside her. However, new owners will need to take it slow with this boy as he can be quite stressed and intense meeting other dogs. New owners should take their time before tacking high doggy traffic areas.
Gyro is sure to become an extremely loyal member of his new home. He is a bit too strong and boisterous to be around a young family and might suit an adult-home with lots of time for a dog or one with dog savvy teens.
No matter where he goes, Gyro is going to bring lots of smiles and make a great walking companion!

DOB - JUL 2016 | Female | Staffy X

Luci is a lovely, lively and very happy girl who is trying to be patient whilst awaiting her new home.
She is super sweet and is ideal for a family who are after a young dog full of love and character.
Luci is very playful, loves to chase her toys around & eager to make new friends both human & canine.
She is well mannered for the most part but her excitement can get the better of her at times.
Luci is sure to grow into a lovely, adventurous pooch once settled into her new home and given a bit of guidance.

MY ENERGY LEVEL + REQUIREMENTS: Luci will require approx 1 hour of exercise daily plus mental enrichment such as chew toys, kongs and training games with her new humans.
She may suit full time workers however i feel she will need time to settle in before being left for longs periods. Luci is a very playful, happy go lucky girl who was eager to chase toys around the yard and jump on me for attention. She shows good manners with the right motivation (food or toy) and was happy exploring the yard initially.
Ok on lead but can be a bit excited and all over the place.

MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Luci may suit children 8+ in the home pending meet.
She can be excitable / jumpy at times but otherwise is very happy go lucky and friendly.

MY SUITABILITY TO CATS & DOGS: Luci was good in her dog test with another female.
She was keen to interact and play fence line with good overall manners.
New social opportunities will be important for her once settled into her new home.

DOB - JUL 2017 | Female | Staffy X

Poppy is a lovely and energetic girl who is on the look-out for a new home. She has some training and can sit and lay down when asked but prefers to have a treat as well! She would like her new owners to take her to further training sessions as she really likes them and it will help her settle into her new home. She is still young and has lots of energy so may suit an active family with older children. She loves to have lots of attention so may need someone around most of the day as she is not used to being left alone. She has lived with other dogs in the home but would prefer to be the only pet in the home.

MY ENERGY LEVEL + REQUIREMENTS: We would recommend that Poppy is only taken on neighbourhood walks and not taken to any new places or meets any new people for at least the first 2 weeks whilst she is settling in, this is essential bonding time for her and her new owners. After this time, she can start to have on-lead walks in quite areas only but NO dog parks/dog beaches and NO off-lead time yet until she has learnt her recall fully. Family members should be introduced slowly and in a calm manner so she learns to remain appropriate and polite.
Once settled in she would benefit from two 30-45 minute walks a day as well as enrichment and playtime so she can be mentally & physically stimulated.

MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Poppy has been around young children and babies but is boisterous and excitable so would recommend older children as she will probably be too much for smaller children.

MY SUITABILITY TO CATS & DOGS: Poppy will do best as the only pet in the home.
