Chevy

DOB - AUG 2012 | Male | Staffy X Mastiff

Chevy is a favorite of the vollies. He is an absolute smooch with such character. He is looking for an active home to call his own with people willing to put the time and effort into him and make him a part of the family. He loves exploring new places and will follow his nose everywhere! Once he has smelt all there is, he becomes very snuggly and loving. With a bit of commitment, Chevy will make a great addition to most homes. Time and patience training this boy is the key.

MY ENERGY LEVEL + REQUIREMENTS: Chevy needs owners who are home all day long or at least have a good family /friend network who could help as he has terrible separation anxiety. Chevy needs owners who will be able to commit to training him to help him to accept dogs and train him to be home alone so commitment or experience needed for him. Chevy's new home will also need secure 6 foot + fencing

MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Chevy is best suited to a home without any children.

MY SUITABILITY TO CATS & DOGS: Not suitable with other dogs.

Mick

DOB - MAY 2008 | Male | Staffy X

Mick is a very handsome gentleman with good basic manners and a friendly personality. He is energetic and loves to play a game of Tug with the rope toy!
Mick can be a bit excitable around other dogs but once he has calmed down and introduced properly will make friends. He is super clever and new owners will be able to train him with the right motivation (such as treats). Mick made need time to settle into his new home as he has made the journey from Geraldton to be here. A large property is necessary for Mick as he does not do well in busy suburban areas. He is sure to make a super companion once through his transitional period.

MY ENERGY LEVEL + REQUIREMENTS: Mick will require approximately 1 hour of exercise daily plus mental enrichment such as being fed from kongs, toys to chew on / play with as well as games with his new family. He will need part time / stay at home workers at least whilst he settled into his new home and can be monitored if copes alone. Mick is very friendly, not jumpy, loves a game of tug but can get over excited and a bit reactive around other dogs. Mick can be a bit destructive if he's left on his own for too long without any mental enrichment.

MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Mick may be suitable for older children in the home who are well mannered and calm with him.

MY SUITABILITY TO CATS & DOGS: Mick is dog reactive and needs distance from other dogs when out walking. Quiet walks in a park area / bush would be best for him.

Udo

DOB - APR 2016 | Male | Staffy X Boxer

Udo is a sweet but quite timid boy who may have had a rough past.
He does not trust initially but spending some time with him and enticing him with yummy treats he becomes quite affectionate.
Udo will need experienced dog owners who can guide him using positive / reward based training methods only.
He needs to build confidence and will take time to settle into his new home environment whilst forming a strong bond with his people.
Udo has a big heart and will become a very loyal companion to the right people.

MY ENERGY LEVEL + REQUIREMENTS: Udo will require approximately 1 hour of exercise daily. This is not priority for Udo as he settles in and build confidence - during this time mental enrichment will be very important, kongs, chew toys, games and training with his new owners is a must. Udo lacks a lot of confidence and needs to be guided using positive / reward based training methods only. He does come out of his shell a bit once he trusts you, but if you move too quickly he can become quite unsure and cower.
Udo is food motivated so yummy treats such as cooked chicken will need to be utilised day-to-day with him. Udo must go to part time / stay at home workers, persons who have the time commitment for him as he settles in and builds his confidence in the home..

MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Udo would struggle with children in the home due to his confidence levels.

MY SUITABILITY TO CATS & DOGS: Udo was good in his dog test however a little unsure. He may lack appropriate skills and his overall confidence needs to be taken into account.
Slow, polite introductions with friendly dogs required as he settles in to his new lifestyle and learns.

Orazio

DOB - OCT 2015  | Female | Staffy X

Orazio is a lively lad who is looking for a new home with active owners. He is keen to learn and has picked up new training skills quickly. He does jump up a lot at the moment so his new owners will need to reward him for keeping all 4 paws on the floor. As he is energetic he may be too much for smaller children but would suit an active household who can give him plenty of exercise. His new owners should have a secure yard with a high fence so he can stay safe when outside. Orazio is strong on the lead and can be excitable so would suit a home with older children or an adult only household.

MY ENERGY LEVEL + REQUIREMENTS: We would recommend that Orazio is not taken to any new places or meets any new people for at least the first 2 weeks whilst he is settling in, this is essential bonding time for him and his new owners. After this time, he can start to have on-lead walks in quite areas only but NO dog parks/dog beaches and NO off-lead time yet. Family members should be introduced slowly and in a calm manner so he learns to remain appropriate and polite.
Once settled in he would benefit from two 30-45 minute walks a day as well as enrichment and playtime so he can be mentally & physically stimulated.

MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Pending meet...Older children may be more suitable as Orazio is energetic and jumps up a lot so may be too much for smaller children.
The new owners will need to ensure that children are appropriate around Orazio especially whilst he is settling into the new home.

MY SUITABILITY TO CATS & DOGS: Slow introductions to other friendly dogs

Lou

DOB - APR 2015 | Male | Staffy X

Hello, hello!
I'm Lou, and it's a pawleasure to meet you.
I'm a 2-year-old male Staffy X...In fact, I'm almost 3! It will be my birthday in a few months...so, I hope I can find a new home by then so I can celebrate getting a new life and having a birthday all at the same time.
I was returned to the Refuge, but it wasn't my fault. My owner had to have two major shoulder surgeries and it was very hard for me to get the exercise I needed after that.
I'm a strong boy and require about 45 mins of exercise each day. I love to go on walkies and sniff all of my surroundings. I'm a very easy-going dude and quite enjoy meeting other canines and fooling around with them.
I would describe myself as a S.N.A.D - Sensitive New Age Dog. I'm softly spoken, calm, intelligent and super doooooper affectionate.
I used to live with teenagers, and they were my absolute FAVOURITE. They can keep up with me and they were even able to walk me every now-and-then. I would really like some new teenagers...that would be so rad!!!
I also really like to be inside and would be really sad if I was an outside dog. I'd probably cry myself to sleep if I was banished to the backyard at night :-(.
So, I better be off for my WALKIES!
If you can spare some room in your house and your heart for a doggo like me, please come and see me at 30 Lemnos St, Shenton Park.
Love always, Lou

He will make the perfect companion for someone and give back ten fold! His new owners must be completely committed to help change his perceptions and help him feel more confident. No children as all the time and devotion is needed for him. I feel he would be a great project for someone who has the time.

ENERGY LEVEL + REQUIREMENTS: Ian needs owners who are home most of the time.He does have anxiety thus needs owners who understand this and are willing to work with this.

MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Ian is not suitable for children

MY SUITABILITY TO CATS & DOGS: Due to Ian's anxiety, he will need to be the only dog in the home.

Lacey

DOB - SEP 2016 | Female | Staffy X

Lacey is a beautiful girl whom is an absolute delight to be around. She was loved very much but unfortunately Lacey needs owners who are around most of the time and this is crucial to her building her confidence. She enjoys her cuddles and does love dogs once she has met them. She is eager to please!

ADOPTION RECOMMENDATIONS: Lacey needs owners who are home most of the time as we do know from previous owners that she does struggle when left alone. Another dog maybe the answer as long as it is a great match. :) Fit retired people could work as long as they are able to meet her physical needs, or people who have a good support network.

MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Older teens are best suited to Lacey

MY SUITABILITY TO CATS & DOGS: It seems lacey is quiet excited when she see's other dogs so has to be introduced correctly and calmly.

I love to run, so I am hoping that my new home has a nice big yard where I can stretch my legs, be careful though sometimes I do not notice you if you are standing in the way. I love a cuddle and I sometimes jump up to get attention, I have not had any training in the past but I feel that I would be really good at it, so if you commit to me then I will do my best to improve! Geralds perfect home will be one where he can get lots of exercise, playtime and keep his brain entertained through consistent mental enrichment games.

Gerald needs a specific home with people who can understand his needs and manage him effectively.

Gerald would be the perfect candidate for rural or semi-rural living, in a nice quiet area.

Aria

DOB - DEC 2015 | Female | American Staffy X

Hey there,
I'm Aria!
I'm 2-years-old and I'm a female American Staffy X.
I absolutely love the company of humans and will be forever grateful for a home where there is someone home with me as much as possible. I just want to spend my days lazing around with someone special...
I'm very loving and really can't wait to find the right home for me. It's been a pretty tough year for me, but I'm here and ready to accept change and embrace my new life...hopefully very soon!
I love toys to chew! It's my fave thing. I really hope my new humans will get me lots and lots of toys. I like the ones with treats in them, where I have to use my brain to get it out.
To be honest, I'm not great with other dogs, but the trainers said that with professional help, I may be able to gain some confidence around other dogs in the future, but this must be done slowly and at my own pace.
I'd like to find a home where I have a consistent routine, this makes me feel secure and safe. I love to wake up and know how my day is going to roll.
I also don't really want to be homed with kids, I need my humans to put their time and effort into me, please.
I hope someone can give me a home soon.
If you'd like to know more, please call my friends at the Refuge on 9381 8166.
Love, Aria
x

Steph

Steph is an intelligent but shy girl who needs owners that can commit to her ongoing training needs. She is a very smart cool young girl who will, in time, make a fantastic companion for the right people. She is likely to do best in a quiet home as an only pet.

She would be great as an agility dog with a person who understands how to train this or is at least willing to learn. She also needs to learn that humans aren't that scary. Arnie

DOB - JUN 2016 | Male | Staffy X

Hi, I'm Arnie...
I'm almost 2-years-old and I'm a male Staffy X.
Named after my favourite action movie star, Arnie Schwarzenegger, I'm similar in many ways...
Arnie is best known for his acting, but he is also a philanthropist, former body-builder, politician and an activist!
I like to think that I'm a lot like him. I'm muscular and quite like working out and I consider myself to be bit of an animal philanthropist too...I believe all dogs have the right to a loving home, and I don't think their pasts should define them. I strongly believe there is a hoooman out there for every doggo!
If I were a politician, I'd say that all dogs have to be desexed, so we can begin to end this cycle of backyard breeding. Backyard breeding makes me sad, cause it just creates more of a problem. I see so many other doggies like me in pounds (cause I came from a pound!) and so many doggies like me in this shelter too!
Anyway, I'm not copping here in kennels. I don't even like to eat my dinner unless a hooman is in my kennel with me, cause that makes me feel safe.
I'm very sweet and dog social! I'm actually hoping I can find the pawfect doggy girlfriend, because I think I'd like to live with another doggo. I'm so polite when I meet other dogs and can't wait to find my pawfect doggy match.
Right now, I'm pretty unsure of my surroundings, so I want to get out of here ASAP! I'm such a gentleman and would be okay with slightly older kids :-).
One other thing, I'm very nice to walk! I love to go on walkies and will walk right next to you, so we can both enjoy the walk together.
So, if you want to adopt me, please come and see me at 30 Lemnos St, Shenton Park.
"Hasta la vista, baby!" - this means goodbye; see you later!
Love, Arnie xo
