Chevy

DOB - AUG 2012 | Male | Staffy X Mastiff

Chevy is a favorite of the vollies. He is an absolute smooch with such character. He is looking for an active home to call his own with people willing to put the time and effort into him and make him a part of the family. He loves exploring new places and will follow his nose everywhere! Once he has smelt all there is, he becomes very snuggly and loving. With a bit of commitment, Chevy will make a great addition to most homes. Time and patience training this boy is the key.

MY ENERGY LEVEL + REQUIREMENTS: Chevy needs owners who are home all day long or at least have a good family /friend network who could help as he has terrible separation anxiety. Chevy needs owners who will be able to commit to training him to help him to accept dogs and train him to be home alone so commitment or experience needed for him. Charlotte

DOB - NOV 2009 | Female | American Staffy X

Charlotte is a very sweet girl who is in need of a loving home where she can receive lots of TLC. She may have had a rough past but her personality is of a girl who just wants love and companionship. Charlotte may never have been taught any basic obedience skills although this is not to say she is lacking in manners.
Charlotte loves to relax and lap up the affection from her people once she has been given time to explore with her nose first. She will make an excellent walking buddy and loyal companion in her new home.

MY ENERGY LEVEL + REQUIREMENTS: Charlotte will require approximately 1 hour of exercise daily. She may suit full time workers but will need to be left with lots to do such as kongs, chew toys, balls etc. Charlotte does not appear to know any basic obedience commands, she is polite and not overly jumpy but new owners should practice her basic skills or attend group classes with her. Charlotte has the potential for fence jumping so this ill need to be monitored / managed during her settling period to see.

MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Charlotte may suit children in the home pending meet.
Recommended over 10 y/o's as she can get overwhelmed easily

Harry

DOB - AUG 2010 | Male | Kelpie x Heeler

Harry is quite fearful and not has not had the easiest start in life. He is looking for experienced owners that will allow him adjust to new surroundings in his own time and make him feel at ease. It would be best he goes to a calm family with older children so his new home will make him feel nice and safe. When Harry trusts you he is a beautiful affectionate boy who will just relax beside you loving all the attention he is getting. When his fear takes over he does tend to bark, but he is easily distracted or will calm when brought inside the home. This boy is one that truly deserves the next home to be his last. Harry may suit owners that work only part time hours so they are there to help him during the settling in period.

MY ENERGY LEVEL: I will require approx 2 x 30 minute walks daily.

MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: I would suit children 10+.

MY SUITABILITY TO CATS & DOGS: Possible pending meet. Harry can be choosy about his dog friends.

Oscar

DOB - AUG 2016 | Male | Staffy X

Woof! My name is Oscar and I'm a 1-year-old male Staffy X.
I was just a wee puppy when I first came to the Refuge almost 12 months ago. I had always hoped I wouldn't end up back here...but here I am.
The Refuge always says how important training is for puppies and they talk no word of a lie...unfortunately I just didn't get adequate training when I was a pup, so I never really grew out of my puppy phase properly. Anyway, I'm improving, but I really need someone who is going to embrace doggy training and give it 110%, because I know I will!
I'm a lovable, funny boy...always up for a good time and a laugh. Some people say good things come in small packages...I say, bugger that, awesome things come in BIG packages and I'm a big doggo with an even bigger heart.
My hobbies include:
Making silly faces to make you laugh
Catching some sunrays (with sunscreen of course!)
Being irresistibly good looking
Making human friends
Gifting you the best damn sticks you've ever seen in your whole life.
Ok, onto the serious stuff now. I haven't got time to waste; I need to find the right home this time because my future happiness depends on it. I'm after a dog-free home because I'm not overly great around other dogs and have become dog reactive...BUT, I'm not against getting professional training to try and help me improve my manners with other dogs and to help me be not so socially awkward...let's not get ahead of ourselves though, let's just take everything nice and slow.
I've lived with kiddo's before, great value they are! I lived with older kiddo's though and I truly believe that the older ones are wayyyy better for me. They totes get me and we're kinda the same size, so it just works, y'know?
I also need lots of exercise and mental enrichment - this keeps me happy and healthy!
One last thing...what's brown and sticky??
a STICK! hahah!
I promise to provide endless belly laughs if you adopt me! So, what are you waiting for? Please come and visit me.
Love, Oscar xo

MY ENERGY LEVEL + REQUIREMENTS: Oscar needs physically capable owners as he can be quite strong on lead and is reactive to other dogs, he is best on a Balance Harness.
Oscar will require approximately 2 x 30 minute walks daily. He must receive lots of mental enrichment such as being fed from kongs, toys to chew on / play with as well as playtime & training games with his new family to keep him occupied and to prevent him from being destructive due to boredom.
Oscar will need part time or stay at home workers who can help him settle in and learn house rules.
He MUST attend group obedience classes.

MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Best for teenagers as can be quite strong at times, pending meet...

MY SUITABILITY TO CATS & DOGS: He appears to lack manners and did not get enough socialization in his last home.
Oscar will need a commitment from his new owners to work on his doggy manners

Jasper

DOB - NOV 2012 | Male | Australian Cattle Dog X

Oh, hey there...I didn't see you there!
My name is Jasper and It's almost my 5th Birthday! Can you believe I've been on this earth for five years!? Anyway, I never imagined I'd be in a dog shelter so close to my birthday, but, you never know...my birthday present could be a brand new family who will spoil me rotten.
If you didn't already guess, I'm a male Australian Cattle Dog. Now, if you know a thing-or-two about breeds, you'll know that I'm alert, intelligent, courageous and most of all, I'm a working breed, so it's sooooo important that I get a lot of exercise in my new home and a lot of mental enrichment. Just so we're on the same page...I'm talking about at least 1.5 hours of exercise each day, otherwise I'll just land myself back in a shelter. If you love exploring, running or hiking, I would make the most PAW-fect companion for you.
I'm searching for a home where I can be the only dog in the house. I've met other pooches here at the Refuge, and I was a little uncomfortable...so, yeah, I probably need a little bit of guidance in that area, but I wasn't completely terrible, so there's hope!
I'm a friendly and happy chap once I get time to formally meet you. I may be okay with children who are gentle with dogs and can handle me when I'm a little bit excited.
I LOVE doggy toys...I know I'm almost 5 which is 35 in doggy years, but man...TOYS ARE THE BEST! I quite like my soft toys and will carry them around everywhere with me. I've been eyeing off one of those super tough plush toys inside the retail shop at the Dogs' Home...they look so cool and I've heard that the profits go straight back to the Dogs' Home! Maybe my new owners will get me one for my birthday!?
So, if you have room in your heart and your home for a pretty spunky doggo like me, please come and see me at 30 Lemnos St, Shenton Park.
Catcha,
Jasper

MY ENERGY LEVEL + REQUIREMENTS: Jasper will require approximately 1.5hrs of exercise daily. Mental enrichment is very important for him, feeding from kongs recommended, chew toys, balls, games and training with his new family as well as lots of outdoor exercise.
Jasper will initially need to go to part time / stay at home workers at least while he settles in and becomes comfortable in his new home - he can be a bit aloof of new people initially and prefers his own space.
Jasper is very clever and begins to show more interest in you after some quiet time, he appears to be interested in tennis ball games

Due to her age it is mandatory that she attends a group training class, she is a very hyper and excitable dog so she will need some training in her new home. However she must also work 1:1 with a qualified trainer first.
.
MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Dog-savvy teens only, please.

MY SUITABILITY TO CATS & DOGS: Lissa is quite fearful of dogs. She will need to work with a qualified trainer to help her improve in this department, otherwise she could potentially become reactive to other dogs as she gets older.

Bonnie

DOB - MAR 2008 | Female | Mastiff X Staffy

Hey there, my name is Bonnie, and I'm new to Facebook.
I'm a 9-year-old female Mastiff X Staffy and I'm currently in foster care and am hoping to find a home and humans just like my foster carers because they are so amazing, they gave me a second chance. I've had a terrible past, something that haunted me for some time, but my foster carers have moved mountains for me and have helped me to become more confident with who I am and how I handle myself. Because of my past, I can be cautious with new people, but when I'm given an appropriate introduction, I'll usually feel more comfortable, and you'll start to see my sweet, loving side. I'd like to think that some positives have come out of my past, although there's not many at all - one positive is that I've learnt to create a bond like no other with my foster carers because they know and understand how grateful I am to have them in my life...and I know I can create this bond with my new forever humans too. I try to be as polite as possible, and I'm always respectful of my home space. I know things like, 'sit', 'down', 'paw' and 'wait' and I'm super smart and know I'm able to learn even more. I love belly rubs and will sometimes put my paw up to let you know that my belly is ready for a rub. I'm very affectionate once I feel safe around you and would make the perfect companion for someone who is single, or a couple who have time to nurture me and love me unconditionally. I'm not overly confident with other dogs and would need to be the only dog in my new home, although I'm okay out on walks when myself and other dogs are all on lead, I'll tend to choose to ignore them. I just don't like other dogs in my personal space...that's all.
I hope someone out there is perfect for me and I'm perfect for them. I just want to know that I have the security of a forever home; that's my dream.
Love always,
Bonnie xo

MY ENERGY LEVEL + REQUIREMENTS: Bonnie needs owners who are willing to initially allow Bonnie her own time and space. Her new owners need to be aware that she doesn't like to be pushed to meet new people and she would rather stay within her family unit. She would make a fabulous companion for a single person or would fit nicely into life with a couple.

MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Bonnie is not suited to children in the home and children should not visit either. She can be quite fearful of them and needs a nice quiet home.

MY SUITABILITY TO CATS & DOGS: Bonnie needs to be the only dog in the home.

Rosa is social with humans & does not have adequate social skills with dogs so will need assistance from a qualified professional trainer to help with this.
She is very clever, will learn new things quickly and loves a good game of fetch.
Rosa will need time to settle into her new home, specifically 1-2 months, and form a bond with her new family before being exposed to too much.

She needs owners who will be home most of the time as she can be destructive when left alone for too long. With time and consistency with her training, this can be improved.
She loves a game of fetch and this should be included as part of her exercise. Mental enrichment is very important for her recommend to feed from kongs, have toys to chew on / play with etc. She is lovely but has an excitable, energetic side to her. She is untrained and undersocialized. Rosa will make a wonderful member of the home once she has settled in and learned house rules.

Skittle

DOB - JUL 2016 | Male | Large Mixed Breed

Skittle is a young goofy guy who needs to learn how to live with a family. He will need consistent and positive training from the start, including getting used to walking on a lead, and this should help him settle into his new home and build a bond with his new owners. We have noticed some co-ordination issues with his back legs so he will need some structured exercise to build up and strengthen his muscles. He is likely to be an energetic dog when fit and jumps up when meeting new people so his new owners will need to ensure this is addressed in his training so he is polite when meeting new people. Skittle will need time to build confidence and a bond with people so his new owners will need to be patient and give him time to settle into his new family life.

MY ENERGY LEVEL + REQUIREMENTS: Skittle will need time to adjust to a family home and learn to interact with his new owners. His new owners will need to be gentle and slow with touching Skittle so he becomes accustom to it and learns to enjoy having a fuss. Skittle would benefit from consistent and positive training so this is a must for the new owners.
Due to his current body condition, Skittle will need short walks whilst he builds up his body condition. Once fit and healthy, he will need at least two 30-45 min walks a day and playtime/enrichment at home.

MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Skittle is not interested in small children and will need to go to a home with older kids only. Children will need to be appropriate around Skittle especially whilst he is settling into the new home.

MY SUITABILITY TO CATS & DOGS: Skittle will need to be the only dog in the home. He should only be introduced to other dogs once he has had plenty of time to settle into his new home. All introductions will need to be done slowly.

Milli

DOB - JUN 2008 | Female | Kelpie X Staffy

Milli is a pleasant, older girl who is still quite active and is in need of a loving home.Ideally we feel she would be best suited to a rural property, like a farm where she could be in the tractor next to her owner during the day and allowed to get off and have an explore where needed. Once home at night she could get fed outside and let in when finished for a snuggle on the lounge as she is one big cuddle bunny.

MY ENERGY LEVEL + REQUIREMENTS: Milli will require approximately 1 hour of exercise daily. She may suit full time workers but will need time to settle into her new home before being left for full days. Milli has displayed resource guarding behaviours with her food and sometimes her toys. Milli's new owners will need to feed her outside and respect her space when she is eating etc.

MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Due to Milli's resource guarding, Milli must not be re-homed with children.

MY SUITABILITY TO CATS & DOGS: Milli must not be rehomed with dogs or other animals due to her resource guarding.

Mick is a very handsome gentleman with good basic manners and a friendly personality. He is energetic and loves to play a game of Tug with the rope toy!
