Charlotte

DOB - NOV 2009 | Female | American Staffy X

Charlotte is a very sweet girl who is in need of a loving home where she can receive lots of TLC. She may have had a rough past but her personality is of a girl who just wants love and companionship. Charlotte may never have been taught any basic obedience skills although this is not to say she is lacking in manners.
Charlotte loves to relax and lap up the affection from her people once she has been given time to explore with her nose first. She will make an excellent walking buddy and loyal companion in her new home.

She may suit full time workers but will need to be left with lots to do such as kongs, chew toys, balls etc. Charlotte does not appear to know any basic obedience commands, she is polite and not overly jumpy but new owners should practice her basic skills or attend group classes with her. Charlotte has the potential for fence jumping so this ill need to be monitored / managed during her settling period to see.

Recommended over 10 y/o's as she can get overwhelmed easily

Thomas

DOB - SEP 2013 | Male | Staffy X

Howdy you-mans!
I'm Thomas, but you can calls me Tommy for short!
I'm a four-year-old Staffy X, just patiently waiting for a home.
My calendar says it's almost tristmas...y'know, the jolliest time of year where everyone spends it with their family, and they get loads of pwesents and yum-yums?
I'm writing a letter to Santa Paws to tell him that all I want for tristmas is a home and someone to love me. I used to have a home, I'm not sure what happened :(. The Refuge says I didn't really like the younger children very much, so I had to come back here...
I'm a very good boy, I always show lots of love towards my you-mans and I always give them licks and cuddles too. I loves my food a lot, I'm a little bit of a chubby bubby and need to lose some weight though...I've got a bit of puppy fat but that just means there's more of me to love!
I'd do just about anything for treats...I wait very patiently when I'm asked to and I'm very, very gentle at taking the treats from my you-mans paws. Did I mention that I know how to sit? I've mastered that, but I've heard that there's so many other twicks I can learn, so I'm keeping my paws crossed that my new you-mans will help me learn all the twicks so I can become a master twickster!
I'm not too sure about these other doggo's here; I think I really just pwefer my own space...just put me in a room full on you-mans and tweats and I'll be in paw-radise!
The Refuge has tried to show me this game called 'Fetch'...I don't know why they expect me to run after the ball, I'd much pwefer to run after my you-mans instead! Who knows, I might decide I like fetch one day!
So, other than that, I'm a super-cool-awesome lad, who will be the most loyal fwiend you'll ever have.
Please give me a home for tristmas...
Paws Faithfully,
Thomas the Staffy x

Orazio

DOB - OCT 2015  | Female | Staffy X

Orazio is a lively lad who is looking for a new home with active owners. He is keen to learn and has picked up new training skills quickly. He does jump up a lot at the moment so his new owners will need to reward him for keeping all 4 paws on the floor. As he is energetic he may be too much for smaller children but would suit an active household who can give him plenty of exercise. His new owners should have a secure yard with a high fence so he can stay safe when outside. Orazio is strong on the lead and can be excitable so would suit a home with older children or an adult only household.

MY ENERGY LEVEL + REQUIREMENTS: We would recommend that Orazio is not taken to any new places or meets any new people for at least the first 2 weeks whilst he is settling in, this is essential bonding time for him and his new owners. After this time, he can start to have on-lead walks in quite areas only but NO dog parks/dog beaches and NO off-lead time yet. Family members should be introduced slowly and in a calm manner so he learns to remain appropriate and polite.
Once settled in he would benefit from two 30-45 minute walks a day as well as enrichment and playtime so he can be mentally & physically stimulated.

MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Pending meet...Older children may be more suitable as Orazio is energetic and jumps up a lot so may be too much for smaller children.

Aria

DOB - DEC 2015 | Female | American Staffy X

Hey there,
I'm Aria!
I'm 2-years-old and I'm a female American Staffy X.
I absolutely love the company of humans and will be forever grateful for a home where there is someone home with me as much as possible. I just want to spend my days lazing around with someone special...
I'm very loving and really can't wait to find the right home for me. It's been a pretty tough year for me, but I'm here and ready to accept change and embrace my new life...hopefully very soon!
I love toys to chew! It's my fave thing. I really hope my new humans will get me lots and lots of toys. I like the ones with treats in them, where I have to use my brain to get it out.
To be honest, I'm not great with other dogs, but the trainers said that with professional help, I may be able to gain some confidence around other dogs in the future, but this must be done slowly and at my own pace.
I'd like to find a home where I have a consistent routine, this makes me feel secure and safe. I love to wake up and know how my day is going to roll.
I also don't really want to be homed with kids, I need my humans to put their time and effort into me, please.
I hope someone can give me a home soon.
If you'd like to know more, please call my friends at the Refuge on 9381 8166.
Love, Aria
x

Danny Boy will need a home with someone around full time as he settles in, forms a bond with his new family and restarts an active routine.
He is very affectionate once he knows you but can have trouble controlling his excitement at times.
Danny Boy will need training to assist new owners with his manners around other dogs and will take a strong commitment of time & consistency.

MY ENERGY LEVEL + REQUIREMENTS: Danny Boy will require approximately 2 x 30 minute walks daily. He will need lots of mental enrichment, should be fed from kongs, be given toys to chew on / play with as well as training at home with his new owners.
Danny Boy will need someone who is home full time whilst he settles into his new home, he gets very stressed when left, at present and this will need to be worked on.
He has been crate trained and this should be utilized by his new owners as he settles in.

MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Danny Boy is only suitable to older dog-savvy teens. He will need owners that can dedicate their time to his needs.

MY SUITABILITY TO CATS & DOGS: Danny Boy can become too full-on for other dogs. He is quite choosy with other dogs and will need training for this with a qualified trainer here at the Refuge. He should only be walked in quieter, less populated area's away from other dogs whilst he is settling into his new home and area.

Bonnie

DOB - MAR 2008 | Female | Mastiff X Staffy

Hey there, my name is Bonnie, and I'm new to Facebook.
I'm a 9-year-old female Mastiff X Staffy and I'm currently in foster care and am hoping to find a home and humans just like my foster carers because they are so amazing, they gave me a second chance. I've had a terrible past, something that haunted me for some time, but my foster carers have moved mountains for me and have helped me to become more confident with who I am and how I handle myself. Because of my past, I can be cautious with new people, but when I'm given an appropriate introduction, I'll usually feel more comfortable, and you'll start to see my sweet, loving side. I'd like to think that some positives have come out of my past, although there's not many at all - one positive is that I've learnt to create a bond like no other with my foster carers because they know and understand how grateful I am to have them in my life...and I know I can create this bond with my new forever humans too. I try to be as polite as possible, and I'm always respectful of my home space. I know things like, 'sit', 'down', 'paw' and 'wait' and I'm super smart and know I'm able to learn even more. I love belly rubs and will sometimes put my paw up to let you know that my belly is ready for a rub. I'm very affectionate once I feel safe around you and would make the perfect companion for someone who is single, or a couple who have time to nurture me and love me unconditionally. I'm not overly confident with other dogs and would need to be the only dog in my new home, although I'm okay out on walks when myself and other dogs are all on lead, I'll tend to choose to ignore them. I just don't like other dogs in my personal space...that's all.
I hope someone out there is perfect for me and I'm perfect for them. I just want to know that I have the security of a forever home; that's my dream.
Love always,
Bonnie xo

MY ENERGY LEVEL + REQUIREMENTS: Bonnie needs owners who are willing to initially allow Bonnie her own time and space. Her new owners need to be aware that she doesn't like to be pushed to meet new people and she would rather stay within her family unit. She would make a fabulous companion for a single person or would fit nicely into life with a couple.

MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Bonnie is not suited to children in the home and children should not visit either. She can be quite fearful of them and needs a nice quiet home.

MY SUITABILITY TO CATS & DOGS: Bonnie needs to be the only dog in the home.

Skittle

DOB - JUL 2016 | Male | Large Mixed Breed

Skittle is a young goofy guy who needs to learn how to live with a family. He will need consistent and positive training from the start, including getting used to walking on a lead, and this should help him settle into his new home and build a bond with his new owners. We have noticed some co-ordination issues with his back legs so he will need some structured exercise to build up and strengthen his muscles. He is likely to be an energetic dog when fit and jumps up when meeting new people so his new owners will need to ensure this is addressed in his training so he is polite when meeting new people. Skittle will need time to build confidence and a bond with people so his new owners will need to be patient and give him time to settle into his new family life.

MY ENERGY LEVEL + REQUIREMENTS: Skittle will need time to adjust to a family home and learn to interact with his new owners. His new owners will need to be gentle and slow with touching Skittle so he becomes accustom to it and learns to enjoy having a fuss. Skittle would benefit from consistent and positive training so this is a must for the new owners.
Due to his current body condition, Skittle will need short walks whilst he builds up his body condition. Once fit and healthy, he will need at least two 30-45 min walks a day and playtime/enrichment at home.

MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Skittle is not interested in small children and will need to go to a home with older kids only. Children will need to be appropriate around Skittle especially whilst he is settling into the new home.

Keith

DOB - SEP 2005 | Male | Kelpie X Border Collie

Hello there, I'm Keith, and I'm a 12-year-old Kelpie X Collie...that makes me 84 in doggy years...but I've still got gas in my tank. I'm an old-fashioned kind-hearted gentleman, willing to do almost anything for my special humans. I'm polite, super generous with my affection and just an all-round nice guy. I'm a bit sad that I'm looking to start over at 12-years-old...I came from the pound, you see...everything else is a bit of a blur for me. I'm kind of deaf, so you'll notice that when you have visitors, I'm really surprised (in a good way!) to see them because I obviously don't hear the doorbell. I love to go on walks, it's my favourite doggy hobby. I love quiet parks with lots of tree's and bushes....so I can pee on them! I don't really like it when other dogs approach me, so I'll tend to growl at them if they come off as too full-on...I could possibly tolerate a very, very calm dog, but need to be the only dog in the household. I'm toilet trained, but on my first day in my foster home, I kinda, sorta pee'd on a few things because I was quite nervous...it's been hard getting used to my new life, it's all over the place at the moment, and change can be quite scary for us doggo's. After the first day of settling in, I LOVED my new foster home and never pee'd inside after that. I really like to find the PERFECT spot to poop outside, so please bare with me when you toilet me...It's really important to me that I find the PPP (Perfect Poop Place). I think my perfect home would be with a retired person or couple - I've heard retirees have more time to spend with their canine friends and I really, really like the sound of that! I'm not overly great when I'm left home alone, but as long as you give me a nice walk and some breakfast before you go out, I usually settle down on the sofa or my bed. Speaking of sofa, I'm an inside kinda gent. I prefer the comfort of couches and being indoors where my humans usually are.

MY ENERGY LEVEL + REQUIREMENTS: Keith needs only a short walk daily as he is an older gent. Lots of company when at home and requires part time / stay at home owners. Suited to older / retired person/s.
Keith is lovely and needs a nice, quiet home where he can relax and retire.

MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Older teens only for keith please, he requires a quiet household where he can relax stress free.

MY SUITABILITY TO CATS & DOGS: Keith will not cope with full on dogs who are too keen to play with him.
