Axel, an exceptional boy!

What can we say about our boy Axel? Everyone at the Dogs’ Refuge Home knows him and we are, quite frankly, too used to seeing him around. Sometimes we get so accustomed to seeing a particular dog, especially if there have been no incidents calling that dog to our attention. We then forget to wonder why it’s taken so long to find them the home they deserve, and have been waiting for so patiently!

Living life after Dudley

Posted by Kylie Hildebrand on 14 January 2010 | 3 Comments

Misty's dream home

Helloooo there, it's Misty here, and I didn't change my name after I left. I know it's been a while and I should have been in touch earlier but even though you were all nice to me, I didn't really enjoy my stay. The Dangers of Heatstroke

Posted by Kylie Hildebrand on 5 January 2010 | 1 Comments

Dehydration and exposure to extreme temperatures can be lethal. Since our four-legged friends can't sweat they are much less efficient than we are at cooling down. Add to that a permanent fur coat and you can see that even mild days can be uncomfortably warm for dogs. It is best to leave your pet at home while running errands in your car during the summer months. Dogs with short snouts such as Pugs, Bulldogs, Rottweilers, or Pekingese have a harder time staying cool.

Hi everyone, just wanted to let you know that Sweet Pea is settling well into her new home. She has been very well behaved, very calm and seems to have taken to her new environment. Sweet Pea is already training us to give her treats when she is good, but we'll get ourselves to Dog Owner Training Classes soon in order to correct our poor behaviours!
