Hitting the streets to set tails shaking

Dog lovers are urged to hit the streets and shake their tins on Friday, 15 October in one of the Dogs’ Refuge Home’s biggest annual fundraisers. Numbers for tin shakers are down on previous years so far and we are keen to top last year’s effort of $12,000.

My-O-Mya....she's a little spoilt

We adopted Mya over a year ago now, and she has definitely changed our lives! She can be pretty rambunctious and stubborn at times (like all Huskies) but she is also the most loving and friendly dog we've ever met.

Vollies raise $2,000 in jog for the dogs

They might not have four legs themselves, but a team of 16 volunteers at the Refuge sure set tails wagging in the recent City to Surf. They took up the challenge to Jog for the Dogs in a bid to help raise much needed funds for the Refuge.

Cuddly Spud wants to be your lap dog

Meet one of our resident studs, Spud. He's been at the Refuge around 6 months now and we seriously can't work out why he hasn't found a home yet. He is such a cuddly and friendly boy who will make a very loyal companion for someone who will commit to his training.

I thought I would send you an update on my new life. My new owners, Alex and Emma, picked me up last Saturday. They are really lovely people and I am settling in nicely. I have also changed my name to Bear (much more me!) and am quickly learning to respond to it.

Sulzer has a face only a mother could love

Watch out, it’s a werewolf!… That dog is soo ugly!…It’s SO skinny… What is it?... looks like it needs a good feed.  That’s the usual lines you over hear about our beautiful Refuge dog… it’s hard not to react like a mother when you hear it… only sometimes do you get ‘oh… she’s so beautiful.’
