Chino was adopted at the beginning of March and boy has he settled in! He is a loving and happy dog and is about to start some basic training.
Hi everyone at Shenton Park Refuge! I've been living with my new family for 3 weeks now, and boy, am I having a ball!
Local rugby player Robbie Keane will put in a marathon effort for our Home when he tackles the half marathon City to Surf at the end of August. Robbie is set for the 21km challenge but he needs your help to raise funds for our Home.
Bones (Fernando) came home with us early February 2009. He took my breath away when I first met him being walked by Karen at the Refuge. Only days after first meeting Bones I introduced him to my fiancé Ange who attended the refuge with me. She also immediately fell in love with Bones and we decided he was the dog for us. Bones is registered as a Pit Bull cross, however I was prepared to meet all requirements set by my local council to bring Bones home.
Snug was brought to the Home by rangers over a week ago. She is about 12-years-old and her back legs are very stiff and sore so she isn't very agile. Snug was underweight and very timid when she arrived. Our staff have shown her much love and with gentle encouragement she is slowly gaining confidence and a little weight each day.
Wet weather and low overnight temperatures has resulted in a need for donations of old blankets to keep our dogs warm at night. The wet weather is making it difficult to get washed blankets dry and we are asking for supporters to donate old (but clean) blankets.
I am writing to give you an update on Cracker, who I adopted from you in 2006. He is a very smart, happy dog and is doing really well.
Barney was surrendered to us recently because his owner has gone into hospice care and won't be returning home. He is an adorable 13-year-old Staffy x Corgi and was an inside dog so is perfectly toilet trained. He is extremely social, plays with cats, was very good with the grand kids and LOVES a cuddle - you could say he's the perfect dog!
Simba (Demeter) is doing so well since we adopted her in June 07. She's become part of our family and wins over everyone who meets her. We just love her cuddly nature and quirky personality, and she has heaps of energy which keeps us on our toes!
There was a substantial increase in the number of dog tags to be found at the refuge during the American Independence Day weekend recently.
