We adopted Beano from Dogs' Refuge Home on 04/04/09, and I am forever grateful. Just a week before we adopted him, we saw Beano, a cheerful, energetic fellow with whom we fell in love with straight away. Well, I was doubtful that such a lovely dog would be up for adoption. 'Probably boarding,' I remember saying to my parents. Thankfully, my parents made the effort to ask at the counter. 'Yes, he will be up for adoption,' I heard someone say. After looking through Swan Animal Haven, Mandurah K9 Dog Rescue, the RSPCA, SAFE dogs, Animal Protection Society, and various others, I felt like I'd finally met the perfect dog. Since Beano hadn't even been through the system yet, he had to be examined and to go through standard procedures. After a week of anticipation, worry, and tons of phone calls, we were notified that we could finally meet him on the fourth of April. There and then, we brought him home.
Hi, I thought I'd let you know how I'm doing. I've been with my pack for 2.5 years now, and they could simply not do without me. My pack consists of the Big one, the Little one, the Nasty one (who has very sharp claws), the Princess (a cute shepherd girl who joined the pack a few weeks ago) and me.
My family and I adopted Ruffy because he was such a character. When we first met our ruffian he would jump up onto the walls of his enclosure and grab onto the fence yapping away at us. I guess that is why no one adopted him.
Dave Bowman from BHP Billiton Iron Ore is going back into the 'Dog House' on Saturday 5th December to help raise funds for our dogs and once again any donation will be matched by his employer BHP Billiton.
My beautiful boy Bon. I cannot begin to describe the range of emotions he has brought to my life. Bon was, at the time I met him, the longest serving member of the refuge. And boy did he know it - he was adored and coddled by everyone there! To this day, 10 years later, he still gets excited as we pull in to the refuge parking! Many people chose to take Bon home. However he had a history of running away. Bon's issue was that he did not believe he should EVER be left alone! Which made it difficult for someone to keep him.
This is a picture of Kaipo (pronounced kai-poh in Hawaiian) formerly 'Gypsy' whom we adopted almost 4 years ago! We spent quite a few hours on the net and at the home walking around the pens waiting for 'our dog' to find us...Kaipo did just that. She came to the fence from the first time we saw her and wanted to interact!
Hi, Bean here (formerly Tyson), its been 2 years since I moved out. My family now live in Bicton and I enjoy my daily runs either at the huge dog park by the river or at the beach... I'm a very happy lucky pup!
Hello - woof woof - my name is Jade the rottweiler. My dad adopted me from the dogs home a couple of months ago. I am settling in really well with my new brother Diesel, dad lets me inside and i have my own couch to sleep on.
I adopted my beautiful Bella from Shenton Park Dog's Home late March this year. She was called Bridget then, but that didn't suit her.
