Last Monday Michael and I (Holly) adopted Charlie from the shelter. It has been one week since we bought him home and he settled in just fine!
With Australia Day festivities happening today, we are urging all dog owners to prepare their dogs for fireworks.
Just thought we would let you know how Max is going. He is a very smart happy dog who has settled in well. He is even letting us take him for a walk rather than the other way round. He is really playful and still gets very excited – but we couldn’t expect anything else from a 12 moths old pup who is already bigger than most of our friends older adult dogs.
Long-termer, Bridget, has made a new year's resolution for 2011 - to be on her best behaviour in the hope of finding a new, loving, forever home. She has been at the Refuge for over a year now and is keen to brighten the lives of a special family out there.
I just wanted to send you a picture of Tasha (right hand side) feeling 'at home' with our other Beagle Daisy. You may remember my daughter being upset that you did not think that it would be good for us to take Tasha home as our Daisy was also a female... well here you have them, they love each other, they play a lot and sleep in the same bed...they certainly have a good life. Tasha is a very kind soul and very pacience with my daugher who loves playing and cuddle with her.
We adopted Flex (now Rex) in June 2010. At first, though very affectionate toward me, he wouldn't go near my husband. We thought another dog may help, so we decided to adopt a dog, Nike, through another shelter.
He may be a boxer, but not they type that the staff and volunteers at the Refuge are used to seeing around. But a love of man's best friend has seen Perth-born heavyweight boxer, Mark De Mori, welcomed as our new ambassador, particularly as we struggling with record numbers of dogs abandoned in the post-Christmas period.
We got little Jack in early December and he has fitted in like a glove. Many thanks for your help in the selection process - we certainly struck GOLD.
We just wanted to send you guys a quick email to let you know that we are so happy with Benji who we adopted from you back at the beginning of November, and we think he is pretty happy too :)
Just wanting to wish everyone at Shenton Park Dog Refuge a belated Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year and to let you know how Ribbon (now called Ruby) is getting on. We have had Ruby now for 3 months and she is a very much loved member of our family. The attached photos were taken on Christmas Day with her Christmas collar on and opening one of her presents.
