Queen of the castle

We adopted Queen Latifeh (now Queeny) 7 months ago now and we couldn't be happier with her!

Queenie on her bed

She was a bit withdrawn at first after being in the shelter for over a year but it didn't take long for her to come out of her shell. It's such a great thing to see how happy she is when we get home from work everyday.

She loves going for a walk but she also loves a good swim. We take her to the river and she gets so excited. Even though she's 8 years old, she acts like a puppy sometimes.

My husband and I know that because she's older we may not have as much time with her as if we had adopted a young dog, but she's brought us so much happiness already that we think it's worth it. We also get so much joy out of seeing how happy she is.

Recently we took her back to the refuge for a visit. I was actually worried that she might think we were bringing her back and be sad but she was happy to see all the staff. I think it shows how much they cared for her during her stay.

  • What a beautiful dog!! A lot of people want to take the younger dogs and I think it is great that you opted to take an older dog.
