Rascal's a dog and a half

Just a note to let you know I am living such a happy life.

I was adopted in March by Keith and Doris who had recently lost their little dog of 17 years.

Keith wasn’t too sure if he wanted a little dog around the house but now he can’t imagine life without me. He and I spend a lot of time together on the couch having cuddles and tummy rubs.

Doris just keeps saying “what a dog - he’s a dog and a half!” I do have a big personality and seem to keep everyone entertained, especially with my morning sprints around the backyard and through the house! (all doors are kindly opened in readiness!)

Their daughter also co-adopted me so she has the responsibility of my daily walks, dog training sessions, grooming appointments etc. Basically she keeps me well behaved! Everyone that has met me says that I have improved quite a lot. They also tell me how beautiful I am and that I always look so happy !

I have attended both beginners and intermediate classes. The dog trainer suggested I continue with 6 month refresher courses to keep me disciplined. I still don’t cope with strangers and big dogs but I have made lots of new doggy friends on my daily walks and everyone is very understanding when I have my “not so good moments.” Some would say I am an “on-going” project but absolutely worth it.

Please let the lovely couple who were my foster carers when I first came to the refuge know that I am well loved and cared for in my new home. My life is great! I hope my mother Snowy found a happy home as well.

Best wishes to all of my friends at the refuge

  • Thoroughly enjoyed reading your story Rascal. You sound like you are full of beans and lots of fun to have around. I am so glad to hear you have such a wonderful family who loves you and I wish every dog could be as lucky as you.
