Riot loves Chaos

We adopted "TANGO"  back in May of this year and we just thought we would drop you a line and let you know how things are getting on.

"TANGO" ... now "Riot" (aptly renamed) has settled in very well. He shares the yard with our other Dobe "Chaos" and the two are best of mates. Play is very physical between the two and very common late at night... they sound like a herd of elephants at around midnight. He knows his place in the family and recognises the yards as his own (and Chaos') .. we feel very secure.

Riot is a little cautious with quick hand movements and did not quite understand play between us and Chaos or when we tried to play with him as we would with Chaos, but he is getting there. He has a good smile and looks fierce when we do play... but would often much prefer a cuddle........ on the lounge, or the bed... or the spare bed, pretty much anywhere he is not supposed to be.

We've now had him for about 6 months and while we have had some ups and downs (clothes off line, gloves out of shed, socks from basket) he is firmly forged into  our lives.

We recently had a scare with Chaos, when he managed to get a hold of a dish scourer (from god knows where)  which he decided to eat unfortunately for him, ending up with xrays, ultrasounds,  emergency surgery, losing nearly 60% of his small intestine due to perforation, a week in observation and around 3 weeks of intensive antibiotics at home afterwards. He is back to his normal ways. A very big special thanks to a very special family member (mum) for some financial help and despite the horrific dent in the savings account  (PET INSURANCE PEOPLE GET ON IT, we wish we had it....)  we are back to normal and all is good again.

Attached are some photos of the two, (Chaos brown, Riot Black) Riot is a ladies man like you would not believe, a big sook and a great pillow.

We could not have asked for anything more.

Thanks so much.

Steve, Ruth, Chaos and Riot.

  • I remember Tango, sorry, Riot! he was sooo lovely to walk, a really sweet guy. I loved watching him gallop around the exercise yard. so glad he has such a fabulous forever home and a playmate in Chaos.

  • Wonderful to hear about \\\"riot\\\". I walked him the very first day he was at the refuge after quarantine, and thought he was a beautiful boy. So elegant to watch as he ran around the yard. Tango was adopted (by you) the following week. So happy for him!

  • I am so happy to hear of the recovery of your dog if not the bank balance(which I am sure will eventually be sorted). Obviously the two of them enjoy the company of themselves and you. All the best for the future.

  • It is so good to hear how Tango is doing! He's such a beautiful boy (and you're right, a total sook =) ) and my partner and I considered adopting him. So glad he has found such a lovely home and has a doggy friend.
