Taya's like a duck to water

I thought I’d give you an update on Taya. I have had the pleasure and honour of owning this beautiful girl for three years now. She will be 8 years old in May and is doing very well, although getting up from lying down is starting to take a little effort.

Destroyed her toy

She loves her morning walks and trips to the beach. When I first got her she was afraid of the water, but slowly we worked on it, and I was bursting with pride the day she had her first swim! Now, she loves the water, but prefers to be able to walk straight out. At the beach I still have to build up her confidence for the first few swims as she doesn’t like the shelf that drops off. She’s a funny girl; I say ‘go for a swim’ and she trots along in the swash, looking at me as if to say ‘look mum, I’m swimming!’ At home, she has a plastic kid’s paddle pool which she uses all the time. Taya has also made some new doggy friends and we occasionally meet up for play dates.

People always comment on how calm and easygoing she is. She is so placid and gets on very well with other dogs. I call her ‘sweet pea’ as she really is such a lovely girl, and every day I wonder how I ended up with such a wonderful, beautiful dog.

I would like to thank all the staff at the Dog’s Home for looking after Taya until I found her, and for the wonderful work you do caring for all of those deserving dogs.

I hope you enjoy the photos.
