Meet Otto
Meet Otto!
Otto is a happy, affectionate eight-year-old who still has plenty of zest for life. With an hour of daily exercise, regular opportunities to socialise with other dogs, and lots of family involvement, he’ll be a wonderful companion for an active household.
Curious by nature, Otto loves being part of whatever is going on and will happily join in with everyday family activities.
After spending his entire life with the same family, Otto may need a little time to settle into his new home and adjust to a different routine. He may initially find being left alone for long periods challenging, so he would be best suited to a home where someone is around for much of the day or can gradually build up his time alone. Otto is incredibly friendly and forms strong bonds with people. He enjoys affection and is very easy to handle. He walks best on a harness, as he can pull at times on lead, and he already knows some basic obedience. He responds particularly well to praise, attention, and social interaction as rewards during training.
Otto has a history of being friendly with visitors and enjoys meeting new people.
He has also interacted successfully around children aged two years and older, making him a lovely family companion for the right home.
If you’re looking for a loyal, social dog who still has plenty of adventures left in him, Otto could be the perfect addition to your family.
How our Adoption Process Works
Step 1) Preparation
Read our Adoption Philosophy and make sure your views on dog ownership align with ours. Please read this entire page to make sure you are ready for adoption day.
Step 2) APPLY
Browse available dogs online, review our dog sociability matrix and then complete an adoption questionnaire.
Step 3) ADOPTION
7 DAYS A WEEK: Walk ins welcome for adoption interviews between 11am-3pm! Our gates remain open until 4pm, but we conclude our adoption interviews at 3pm so we have time to take the dogs out, feed them and get them ready for bedtime.
During quieter periods, we will also do our best to review online applications, but unfortunately cannot get back to every applicant, especially for more ‘popular’ dogs. If you agree with our adoption philosophies and are ready to adopt- please do not wait for us to contact you after submitting a questionnaire.
PUPPIES & DOGS IN FOSTER CARE: If you are particularly interested in a young puppy or a dog that is currently in foster care, please indicate this on your questionnaire. Young puppies will not be on site here at the Refuge as it is much more beneficial for them to remain in foster care until their adoption. For dogs and puppies that are not on site, we will review online applications and get in touch with suitable homes to arrange a meet and greet.
