Meet Jem
Meet Jem, a gorgeous young Kelpie who has travelled all the way from Geraldton in search of her fresh start! 💕
Jem is a sweet, affectionate girl who loves spending time with her people. She’s clever, food motivated and full of potential, with all the wonderful qualities you’d expect from a Kelpie!
As a working breed, Jem is looking for an active family who can provide plenty of daily exercise, enrichment and opportunities to put that clever brain to work. Long sniffy adventures, training games, scent work and fun activities like hoopers would be right up her alley! She’ll also need appropriate outlets for her natural chasing and herding instincts.
Jem can be a little sensitive to busy environments, so she’d appreciate a patient family who can give her time to settle and feel secure. Once comfortable, she’s a loving little companion who enjoys affection and reassurance from her favourite humans.
Jem could share her home with a suitably matched, polite male dog pending successful meets. She may also live with calm, respectful children aged 10+ pending meets. A family with some Kelpie or working-breed experience would be ideal!
If you’re looking for a gorgeous, clever companion to share your adventures with, Jem might just be your perfect match! 🐾
How our Adoption Process Works
Step 1) Preparation
Read our Adoption Philosophy and make sure your views on dog ownership align with ours. Please read this entire page to make sure you are ready for adoption day.
Step 2) APPLY
Browse available dogs online, review our dog sociability matrix and then complete an adoption questionnaire.
Step 3) ADOPTION
7 DAYS A WEEK: Walk ins welcome for adoption interviews between 11am-3pm! Our gates remain open until 4pm, but we conclude our adoption interviews at 3pm so we have time to take the dogs out, feed them and get them ready for bedtime.
During quieter periods, we will also do our best to review online applications, but unfortunately cannot get back to every applicant, especially for more ‘popular’ dogs. If you agree with our adoption philosophies and are ready to adopt- please do not wait for us to contact you after submitting a questionnaire.
PUPPIES & DOGS IN FOSTER CARE: If you are particularly interested in a young puppy or a dog that is currently in foster care, please indicate this on your questionnaire. Young puppies will not be on site here at the Refuge as it is much more beneficial for them to remain in foster care until their adoption. For dogs and puppies that are not on site, we will review online applications and get in touch with suitable homes to arrange a meet and greet.
