Meet Six and Shadow – two gentle giants with even bigger hearts.

These beautiful boys share an incredibly close bond and are looking for a home where they can stay together. They take comfort in one another and truly move through the world as a team.

Six is the younger of the pair – a 56kg lap dog at heart! Don’t let his size fool you – he’s a soft, affectionate boy who loves leaning into his people for scratches and cuddles once he feels safe. He has a playful side and enjoys stretching his long legs when he’s comfortable.
Shadow is the quieter, more sensitive brother. He’s a sweet soul who blossoms in calm environments and absolutely adores Six. Once he trusts you, he’s affectionate and enjoys relaxing in sunny spots or stretching out in soft sand.

Both boys can be a little shy when meeting new people or in new places, but with patience and kindness they warm up beautifully. They are best suited to a calm home in a quiet area with a large, secure yard where they can decompress and adjust at their own pace.

These two are incredibly loving, loyal and devoted to one another. If you’re ready to open your heart and home to a bonded pair who will reward you with deep companionship and quiet affection, Six and Shadow may be your perfect match.

How our Adoption Process Works

Step 1) Preparation

Read our Adoption Philosophy and make sure your views on dog ownership align with ours. Please read this entire page to make sure you are ready for adoption day.

Step 2) APPLY

Browse available dogs online, review our dog sociability matrix and then complete an adoption questionnaire.

Step 3) ADOPTION

7 DAYS A WEEK: Walk ins welcome for adoption interviews between 11am-3pm! Our gates remain open until 4pm, but we conclude our adoption interviews at 3pm so we have time to take the dogs out, feed them and get them ready for bedtime.

During quieter periods, we will also do our best to review online applications, but unfortunately cannot get back to every applicant, especially for more ‘popular’ dogs. If you agree with our adoption philosophies and are ready to adopt- please do not wait for us to contact you after submitting a questionnaire.

PUPPIES & DOGS IN FOSTER CARE: If you are particularly interested in a young puppy or a dog that is currently in foster care, please indicate this on your questionnaire. Young puppies will not be on site here at the Refuge as it is much more beneficial for them to remain in foster care until their adoption. For dogs and puppies that are not on site, we will review online applications and get in touch with suitable homes to arrange a meet and greet.

Our dogs are ready to meet you!
