Puppies are undoubtedly cute, but they are also a BIG commitment. We are here not only to find wonderful forever homes for our pups, but to also educate new puppy guardians on what to expect when you are expecting…a puppy!
Before we go into detail about our process, please consider:
1. Complete a Puppy Questionnaire & Interview
The first step to adopting a puppy is to come into the Dogs’ Refuge Home, complete a Puppy Questionnaire and meet with one of our adoption staff. Many people ask if this can be done online, but this must be done in person so we can conduct an interview after you have completed the paperwork. Because we get quite busy in the office you will need to allow between 1.5 – 2 hours to complete your Puppy Questionnaire and Interview. If we feel that a puppy will fit into your lifestyle, we will put your application into our Puppy Register and when the next litter of puppies becomes available, we will contact you to arrange a meet and greet. Should you not be able to stay onsite to have your interview, please let our office staff know. We will then have a staff member review your application at a later date and contact you to complete a phone interview.
PLEASE NOTE: You may not be considered for a current litter of available puppies should you decide to have your application reviewed at a later date. ALL applicants must be pre-approved during the interview process to be considered for any available puppies or future litters. Once a staff member has completed your phone interview and approved your application, you can then go into our Puppy Register for any future litters of puppies.
Puppy Questionnaires in our Puppy Register automatically expire after 6-months. Please contact us on 9381 8166 if you’d like us to keep your application on file after that period of time.
